a mix to lie down to and enjoy life by Cara & Paul

here is my recording from a wild festival called soria gathering. this one took place way up north in norway during the midnight sun, on an island way out. i played at the lovely beach stage close to ocean, where the horizon was pure and magical.

the mix contains some proper warm analog atmospheric minimal house vibes, something i thought would fit the analog sound of the function one by the great shepherd soundsystem. also the warmth of the sun that never sets felt mutual to the sound i went for.

it contains some hiccups here and there, but if you ask me this is just a beautiful charm in these times where mixes seems way too perfect, in my opinion. some errors just seems proper and original when mixing in an era filled with the indulgence of perfection.

Formerly a downtempo house live act, Lopal has focused over the last few years on nurturing local communities as an event organizer, DJ, and co-founder of Keep It Radio. Pushing his sound towards more effective, stripped down, faster house with the occasional nod to minimal and techno, Lopal also enjoys bringing up quirky wobbly dance tunes from the late 80s and early 90s on a foggy dance floor or during his radio shows.

In 2017, Søren started playing live sets together. At that time, their goal was to make computers redundant as tools.
After a break they now made their comeback at the Hafenklang, where this set was recorded.

Sørens new sound builds on their individual developments they made, focusing on their solo projects. They offer dancefloor-ready, but interestingly varied and well-thought-out live sound beyond washed-out jams. The sometimes melodic, deep side of old Søren sets has remained, the computer has returned to our setup, and yet we still use a lot of hardware. Tools are just tools.

When playing together, they appreciate the understanding they have – without having to discuss much with each other. No set is like the one before, everything is turned upside down and only a few particularly striking parts are retained.
