“O Beloved” recalls the salvation we have been granted by our Lord Jesus Christ. He suffered, was ridiculed, condemned, smitten, abused, and was crucified before rising from the dead, effectively raising us from our death in sin. The path of suffering is the same path that led to triumphant glory. We live in His resurrection, so now when we share in His sufferings, when we struggle against evil, when we sacrifice ourselves for the love and salvation of the world, we are also active and faithful participants in His glorious resurrection!

O Beloved

Quoting from Psalms 32 and 56, “You Are My Hiding Place” focuses on God as our safe haven not only in times of fear, but “always,” with His constant deliverance from our trials, both mundane and extraordinary. He is even our resting place when we don’t realize we need rest from anything, when difficulties seem distant. Our resting in Him in all of life’s circumstances gives us solace beyond what we can ever experience. We are His children—His light shines despite our sinfulness, His strength is perfected in our weakness.

The glorious mystery of the burning bush: the Fire of Divinity descended upon our Mother St. Mary and did not touch her Virginity but did touch her soul; the fire of the trials and tribulations of the wilderness did not touch the Israelites' well-being but did touch their prideful hearts; the fire of the Holy Spirit does not consume our weak humanity but does consume our lives, transforming them into a precious aroma to the Lord and to all those we encounter. May we always carry the flame of Love in our hearts, minds, and bodies and take it with us to the ends of earth.

Khristos

The Theotokos, the Mother of God, has many titles that reflect gentleness and is known by many people as a quiet, meek, and subservient lady. Though she is certainly those things, she is also a fierce warrior, fighting alongside each of us in prayer to support us until we are finished with our journey here on the earth. She is uncommonly known as "The Dissolver of Iron," a name given to her when, through prayer, she dissolved the chains of St. Matthias when he was held captive as prisoner and dissolved the iron of an entire city. As she did with physical chains, the intercessions of the Theotokos can assist in dissolving the chains of our sins, strongholds, addictions, negativity and anything else separating us from the Love of her Son, Christ the Living God.

This Eastern Orthodox hymn, composed by Nectarios of Aegina, is sometimes chanted at the beginning of Vespers. Recorded here are two of the four verses of the hymn, to which additional harmonies have been added.

Unwedded Bride (Agni Parthene)

In commemoration of our beloved Pope Shenouda III, this song was written to honor the great impact he had on all of our lives. His book “Have You Seen the One I Love?” describes a beautiful relationship with God that is based on sincere Love and wholehearted devotion. The beginning of the song describes how this relationship of Love with Christ was manifest in the lives of three women: The Shulamite, St. Photini (the Woman at the Well) and the Woman with the alabaster box. The second half of the song describes how Pope Shenouda’s love for his flock affected us deeply and taught us, by
example, to search with all our hearts, all our minds and all our souls for the One we love. We still feel his love and prayers today and hope that each of us can live the life of love and holiness that he embodied.

Tolithos - Resurrection Hymn

My Coptic Church is a song about the strength of the Coptic Church since its establishment by St. Mark, the Apostle of Christ. Our Lord has never left His Church and His Church has never left her Orthodox faith, given to us by Jesus Christ Himself. Through the blood of the courageous martyrs, the suffering of the confessors, the diligence of the fathers, and the faithfulness of the believers, the Coptic Church holds fast the traditional and essential dogma that Christ intended for the whole world. We hold fast to this precious gem and guard it with our lives through God’s evident grace and care for His Church.

My Coptic Church

The simple melody of “Love, Love” successfully complements the simple yet essential claims of its words. The Gospel fills our human senses with inexpressible feelings and the Holy Trinity is a basic tenet of Apostolic Christianity, to which our Coptic Church has remained faithful and strong since its dawn.

Love Love

“Hear My Cry” expresses the effective prayers of a desperate soul, whose only hope is the Lord. As Jonah poured forth his passionate prayer from the pit—the midst of the fish—he realized his weakness, frailty, and reliance on God. We too sing with him in the midst of our fiery trials on earth, through which we often present our most sincere and heartfelt prayers, pleading for His mercy.

Hear My Cry

“Father God” is a song about man’s fallen state and his subsequent realization of the indescribable goodness of a new life with God and the change it brought about. This new life, in which man comes to understand and appreciate his full purpose and potential, is established through the Holy Sacrament of Baptism in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The use of “managed” here does not imply our ability to exist, survive, or endure without Existence and Life Himself. Instead, it is an emphatic proclamation of man’s acknowledgement of his dire need for, yet unworthiness of, salvation.

Father God

In “Amen Amen Come” the soul’s yearning for the return of Jesus Christ in His glorious Second Coming is clear. The elaborate imagery in St. John’s book of Revelation describes the magnificence of this eternity in which there will be no more pain, tears, or suffering, but the Church will be forever joyful with Her Groom whose light shines brighter than can be comprehended. With excitement and patience, with eagerness and diligence, with hope and love, the Church eagerly waits for this Day. Come quickly, Amen!

Amen Amen Come

How we are to revere these holy words given us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as our model prayer! It is through these Divine words of the Lord’s Prayer that we boldly dare to address our God as “Father,” as we have properly received our adoption through His Son. Our loving God has always taught us through the righteous and the prophets of the Old Testament, through His revelation in the New Testament, and through His activity with us now through His Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ sanctified our humanity by living a real and full life on earth, and He sanctified our prayer by teaching us these words. He does not leave us with this only but sent us His Holy Spirit who gives us the words in every prayer we utter and the strength in every effort we make.

Our Father

“Resurrection” tries to convey the reality of our victory over weakness, sin, and death through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Amid life’s struggles and troughs, it can be easy to lose sight of this fact and how in His resurrection, we rise daily from the depths of the darkness that surrounds us. His resurrection is alive in us today—now, and for this reason the lyrics emphasize “gives” and “makes” in the present. By His death He abolished death, and in His resurrection we experience new life. We preach His resurrection when we shine as lights in His glorious triumph, and we await our final resurrection when we will be forever surrounded by and engulfed in this exuberant, incomprehensible glory.
