This is truly the most wonderful time of the year - purely magical. And I think it ought to be accompanied by music which beckons nostalgic warmth. This version of Dwell was born of late nights at a piano...always wondering if the melodies of the original could be rewritten in a rather free and spontaneous fashion. This is what emerged. It is best enjoyed under a star-lit sky as the snow falls  - of course with several angels & baby deer in your midst as you sip hot drinking chocolate. was a heady, overwhelming trip inspired by classics of visionary literature. At the time we felt there was room for a return to similar subject matter but with very different musical stylings.

Returning to  Herman Hesse's "Siddhartha" & "Journey to the East" we started to write a gentler, more introspective song reliant on subtle acoustic textures.
At this point we asked our good friend & multi-instrumentalist PP : https://soundcloud.com/perpetually-pessimistic  
to help us out with some authentic Indian sounds. Fortunately he was really sold on the sketches and supplied some breathtaking sarod melodies - completely transforming Morning Land into something very special indeed.

I love impressionists (that's why Claude Monet is on the cover) and wanted to explore the same Impressionism in music. There is no single apring, all shorter strokes and drops. Rather hues and hints. The Shadows if you will :) 

Other challenge, I indulged myself was to make this SYNTH-phony, using only MOOG sounds. It was so tempting to play guitar or strings or flute. I wanted to stay focus played my favorite Arturia MiniMoog, Moog Modular, and AniMoog. Otherwise one piano, percussion made in Korg Gadget, produced in Ableton Live 9 with IK Multimedia mastering tools.

 I extracted this quote from Robert Moog, greatly respected engineer and artist of sound, from his interview available on YouTube:

"It is something between discovering and witnessing" - Robert Moog

Some parts, like the wobbly/slides/something sounds you can distinctly hear in the into, I played by hand and ear on AniMoog. This is the iPad app invented by Moog Foundation. You slide over iPad surface to design and create unique vibes and sound colors. I know, if there is someone thinking to "throw a tomato" at the iPad musicians, please prepare one for maestro Jean-Michael Jarre, he-he :D  I'm not placing myself anywhere close, of course, but was so excited, after played this AniMoog part here, to see the one JMJ video, where he is playing the same app for his number one album of the year! In one of Electronica 1 video you can see the iPad on the right, green-ish look of AniMoog. 

The cover art is a fragment of Claude Monet "Water Lilies", 1920s. I took the photo earlier this year, in Museum of Modern Art, New York. I noticed and specifically took a shot of "THE EYES" I saw (see them in right lower corner?). Nice, can spend hours when get a chance. Thank you ALL for the support!

Speed Limit

A relaxing, meditative minimalist experiment, with sounds coming from a Roland D-20 and a Yamaha TG100.
After buying the TG100 in the 90's, I wanted to hear how well its sounds would mix with the ones from the D-20; inspired at the time by Claudio Simonetti and the Goblin's music, Far East is the result.

Initially composed on my Roland D-20, the original MIDI got lost as the D-20 floppy drive stopped working.
My brain hasn't failed as critically, and I've rewritten the MIDI in 2010 by playing each track on the D-20 and midi-recording it all on the PC sequencer.
I also took the chance to replace the original (and clearly fake) D-20 synth birds with a real eagle sample, courtesy by Freesound:
