A Thursday night in Wellington, NZ, circa 2001 Derrick Carter touched down for the Boompty Boomp tour and tore the fucking roof off Studionine from 3am until nearly 9:30am!!!

A friend of mine moved to Auckland a few years later and randomly met the guys who managed the tour and he told them how much I raved about the gig, they gave him a 4 CD set to give to me!!!

20 years on, I've decide it's time for this to be available online!

American DJ, record producer, and remixer, born 18 January 1955 in South Bronx, New York City, New York, USA, died 31 March 2014 in Chicago, Illinois, USA..
He was the Dj from 1977 to 1982 at the Warehouse. It is widely accepted that his style of DJing and his selection and the appeal of the Warehouse gave house music its name, although in the beginning, the word 'house' was used only in Chicago to denote something which was cool, hip, fresh or bad. Frankie Knuckles had been long time friends with Larry Levan, they had had their musical upbringing together from going to clubs like Loft and the Gallery.

Special shout out to Thunder & Joy for the recommendation here. I remember Chris Duckenfield getting booked by the Ward 10 lasts in Sunderland in the early 00's and after going onto hear a few more of his mixes it was clear he was a heavyweight that lurked firmly in the underground but resonated certainly across the UK and Europe.

Pisces – Rest in Seas (Afro House Remix)

Amnesia '86: 
Straight, gay, bi-sexual, young, old, black, white, brown, trendy, hippie.. such a diverse mixture of people had never been seen under the same roof( or lack of roof rather). The common denominator that bound it all together- the music…as provided by DJ Alfredo Fiorito. 

Of course, in those days, and before the House Revolution took place, the soundtrack to any club was on the whole much more varied... On your average night, you’d be as likely to hear salsa as rock and roll, Bob Marley as Luccio, Madonna or Tears for Fears. One could describe it as a total Mumbo Jumbo, a mad medley of all that was, indeed, is, great music straining up and out of the club and into the sky above. Throughout those first two years the reputation of the club and its sound grew not only on the island but also internationally. 

Amnesia soon became the best after club in the world. The crowd grew weekly, transferring their socializing from Ku (now known as Privilege) to Amnesia to form an intrinsic part of never before witnessed scenes of wild and carefree fun in the sun- glasses on, dancing in the sunny open air terrace that became the legend we all know today. 

To celebrate this, the next Sameheads C60 tape cassette release will be a special, as yet unheard live Dj mix recorded at Amnesia during Alfredo's early years there. This will be available to buy at the door and the Sameheads shop thereafter.
