tfw your songwriting ability peaked in 2014.

I wrote this very serious love song back in like 2014 to play acoustically during sets with my band, Because Reasons.  Finally giving the song the love and respect it deserves for it's 10 Year Anniversary.

Lovers Lament

Back at it again with actually writing music, which feels really nice.

Put this song together in about two days.  Kinda sorta ended up being a conversation with my younger self, where the Verses are supposed to be from me about 5-10 years ago, and the Choruses are me today.  More or less coming to terms with the way my brain works, and eventually feeling more comfortable in my own head.  Along with a few references to previous projects I was involved with in my 20s lol.

Note To Self

A cover of a cover I guess.  Heard this song for the first time in a while about a week ago and had trouble getting it out of my head, so here we are.  Song has been covered a million times, but why not make it a million and one?

Torn (Cover)

Chill, instrumental track.  Took heavy inspiration from David Wise's ambient style of composition.  Original idea was to be used for a water or forest dungeon of some sort.

Cognitive Reflection

An RPG battle theme, heavily inspired by Motoi Sakuraba.  I feel like my compositions usually lean more melodic, and the prog stylings of Sakuraba have always been something that has eluded me.  I tried to push myself more out of my comfort zone with this track; messing around with tritones, weird time signatures, and even an entire section that is just based around the locrian scale.  All the while still holding onto some of my more melodic stylings.  Ultimately i'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

Soundsets include instruments from the GBA and DS Golden Sun soundchips, the SGM soundfont, and percussions being provided by EZDrummer.

Relentless Assault

Okay, so I've never played Suika.  But I've at least played Tales of Graces.  So when my friend Errant came to me with the idea of combining the song from Suika with the Tales of Graces Battle Theme in the style of a SilvaGunner shitpost, it was something that needed to happen.  

Well worth the commission price of a singular Royal Crablette.  Thanks friend!

idk if it's a hot take or not, but i don't like this band much lol.  But i heard it when i was going to pick up my meds at my local pharmacy and was more or less like "...i like the chorus, but i feel like i could do something with this."

3 days later and recording was finished, and then mixing took forever because it's my least favorite part of the process, and i'm still not good at it lol.

so here we are.  enjoy i guess lol

Linger (Cover)

Happy early birthday Mom!  

Back in May I was on a bit of a musical tear, pumping out covers and work on original songs and stuff that I haven't uploaded here.  My mom was obsessed with the Mickey Guyton version of Ringo Starr's "You Don't Know Me At All" and then jokingly hinted that I could cover it for her birthday.  I didn't wanna work on it at that moment since i was flirting with burn out, and i think she thought i forgot about it.  But I didn't.  

Mickey Guyton's version of the song is great, and I like it more than the original.  I don't even know what genre to classify this cover as, since it plays with Power Ballad styled shenanigans, while also feeling like there's some jazz influences in there.  

Idk, I wanted to try it with my own style and instrumentation, but wanted to give full credit to her version as the inspiration.  Cuz it's really damn good.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Mom, I love you, thank you for raising me into being a semi-decent human with a solid conscience, and for blessing me with the ability to partake in one of my favorite hobbies; making music.
