One show. That’s all it takes to recognize that the Cape Verdean/American  artist known as iLLspokinn is not your average Emcee or DJ. As he explains, when it comes to motivating crowds and rocking a party, “It just takes one show for them to know…what I do.”

Since relocating from Taunton, Massachusetts  to New York City a little over a decade ago, iLLspokinn has moved crowds from Brooklyn to Budapest, compiling the type of resume and audience most artists dream about.

With a focus on staying true to Hip Hop’s roots while also propelling it toward the future, iLLspokinn has garnered a worldwide following, both through the two albums (60 Minute Spin Cycle and Spokinn Movement) he released as leader of the band Spokinn Movement, who was named one of the “Rawkus 50 (next important Hip Hop artists)”, and maintaining an extensive international touring schedule.

An unofficial ambassador of Hip Hop, iLLspokinn’s talents have literally taken him across the world, with a particularly strong following in Europe. To date, he has performed in China, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Greece, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Dubai, Morocco and Cabo Verde.
 
iLLspokinn most recently performed at Super Bowl LI for the Official NFL Pre-Party in Houston, TX.  He is also the DJ for NBA (London) and Jameson (NYC) events.  In 2016 iLLspokinn performed at the Atlantic Music Expo in Praia, Cabo Verde in April, 2016 and in the Timitar Festival  in Morocco  for a crowd of
80,000.   His DJ sets, filled with live traditional  remixes  and high energy  dance  music,  sparked  a series  of Festival  bookings  for the upcoming  year and 2018.

In Barcelona, his single, “Last Call,” remained at number one on the FlaixFm dance charts for fourteen weeks. When in Budapest, his live shows reliably sell out. In France, he has an equally enthusiastic following. Indeed, he is so well established in the global Hip Hop community that the NBA organization flies him to London to Emcee and DJ their events.

Closer to home, iLLspokinn wears many hats.  He's an educator/mentor  holding Hip Hop workshops and a Vinyl DJ instructor.  He is the Co-founder of Urban Art Beat, a platform for creative expression, partnering talented artists and dedicated volunteers with under served schools and organizations.   In 2014, NBC used his song “Here We Go Again” for their Winter Olympics promotion. This song was also featured on a few Prime Time television shows in 2014 and 2015 including The Mindy Project, Rob Dyrdeck’s Fantasy Factory, and Alpha House.

iLLspokinn is the producer, host and co-founder of the raucous and wildly creative “Freestyle Mondays”, one of the longest running Hip Hop events in New York City. The popularity of the series extends well beyond U.S. borders, as iLLspokinn has  launched satellite versions in the Czech Republic and France.

Although he is well known for his own stellar “freestyles,” iLLspokinn is an equally talented writer, crafting short stories in poetry form as early as his middle school years. He describes his style as ‘clever and confessional’.

To that end, when he’s not rocking a mic, he’s an in-demand DJ, rocking the decks of some of the world’s hottest venues and festivals, including Toshi’s Living Room & Penthouse (NYC), B.B. King’s (NYC), Webster Hall (NYC), Le Poisson Rouge (NYC), A90 Festival (Belfort, FR), Otkert (Budapest, HU), Instant (Budapest, HU), Fat Black Pussy Cat (Strasbourg, FR),  Jamboree (Barcelona, SP)  and more!

With a voice as unique as her style, b.kae (fka B.K. Habermehl) fuses genres with a R&B sensibility, hip-hop bravado, and alternative flair into a one of a kind soundscape, punctuated by evocative lyrics delivered precisely to the sweet spot of every track’s pocket. b.kae’s style is B.O.L.D. with hints of 90s nostalgia mixed with classic vintage influences, helping you visualize yourself in her world: straddling the future and the past and accessorized to the nines. Influenced by artists ranging from Erykah Badu to Neil Young to Lil Yachty, b.kae floats swimmingly in her own lane. 

After graduating Cum Laude from NYU, b.kae has grown to collaborate with Grammy-winning and nominated talents such as Akon, Jeff Gitty, Jerry Wonda, Keith Harris, and DJ Khalil. She has also performed bicoastally as both a pianist for Dame Dash and as a featured artist alongside the Free Nationals, as well as for events for companies such as Google, and appeared for an exclusive interview and performance on Road to Roots Picnic, founded by the legendary band The Roots. Equally passionate as a songwriter, b.kae is inspired by hearing her songs live with other artists, and recently contributed four songs to Durand Bernarr’s critically acclaimed project BLOOM, currently touring sold out venues worldwide.

In addition to the release of her debut EP Mirror Neurons, notably b.kae was chosen by the NPR Music team to be showcased on a special NPR x Insecure Tiny Desk concert, and was featured on Live Nation's Femme it Forward Deluxe compilation album alongside artists such as Muni Long, Kiana Ledé, 6LACK, and more. b.kae has five songs featured on Issa Rae’s HBO hit show 'Insecure', and her independent releases and accompanying videos incorporate her dance ability and cinematic vision. Her latest single “Jealous” is available on all platforms!
