Hailing from Buenos Aires in Argentina, Octavio Sardi AKA TYf draws his influences from sexual tensions, surrealist arts, and terror films. TYf’s releases are full of eerie sounds, dark atmospheres and funky bass lines. They have a certain trippyness and groove that really draws you in as a listener. 

To complement the original works, we’ve enlisted three of Join Our Club’s brightest stars along for the ride. Cabaret Nocturne cranks up the tension on his remix of Red Hills, whilst Emile Strunz drops the tempo, pushes the electronic body music settings to +10 and turns out a fine posh trance rendition of Scissors Dance. To finish up Alexander Khov rounds off proceedings with some bass heavy machine funk.

With over 7 million plays and counting on YouTube Compuphonic's 2011 collaboration with Marques Toliver, 'Sunset' raised the bar pretty high. Since then Maxime has gone on to produce remixes for the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Gotye even and fellow Belgians The Subs (winning a Red Bull award in the process) and release two acclaimed EPs on Berlin label Exploited.

Now finally Maxime and Marques have reunited for a new EP on Exploited, 'Magical Shoes', and the results are everything we could have hoped for.

Having delivered two huge club hits in 2014 with ’Radio Atlantis’ and ’O Cypres’, Belgian star Compuphonic returns this February with his third EP for Exploited, ‘Magical Shoes’. 2 tracks of sublime House music, the ‘Magical Shoes’ EP sees Compuphonic finally reunited with the Beyoncé approved American singer Marques Toliver, whose vocals previously graced Maxime’s 2012 breakout hit ’Sunset’.

Once again this Transatlantic pairing have struck gold as Compuphonic’s distinctive brand of deeply emotional, nuanced, House Music provides the perfect setting for Marques’ plaintive vocals. With it’s distinctive Korg M1 organ and shuffling beats ‘Magical Shoes’ instantly brings to mind legendary ‘90s New York clubs like The Sound Factory but thanks to Compuphonic’s production skills it goes well beyond that of simple period pastiche and sounds utterly fresh for 2015, a bonafide club hit that is already peppering the sets of DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Tensnake and The Magician.

As the title suggests the EP’s 2nd track ‘The Sun Does Rise’ is the natural successor to the duo’s previous outing. As deep as the Pacific Ocean this is a trance inducing hymn to hope, music designed to elevate the soul as much as move the body and bring some much needed warmth back to clubland. Expect to hear this played everywhere and anywhere this year where the party goes through the night and the first morning light breaks over the dancefloor.

Recorded in the famous Vantage Point Studios in Antwerp - dEUS’s own recording studio, a special, inspiring moment for Maxime, a lifelong fan of the band - the ‘Magical Shoes’ EP cements his position as one of Europe’s most talented producers and with remixes to come soon on Carl Craig’s Planet E and more original material on Exploited, the future is looking bright for Compuphonic.

Get 'Presence'

Anonymous engineer Man Power delivers the Kiloton EP for Correspondant’s 26th release, available in both digital and vinyl formats on 14 April 2014. The producer’s recent contributions to the label, including a track on Compilation 02, feature corrosive riffs and irreverent stylistic mixing. Kiloton presents a tighter sound complimenting label signatures of 
acid-laced, dramaturgical warm-ups and off-kilter body workouts. 

Man Power opens Kiloton with Balearic beats and chugging 303 acid, summoning a Soca-style saxophone intervention, then stirring discordant synths into a sonic whirlpool. All sound is momentarily sucked into a silent plateau, before plunging back down to ride out the track with new momentum. In his outerworld rework, Hardway Bros’ Brit Sean Johnston pitches down the original, swerving into low-slung 80s styling and leaving behind galactic static. 

“Parenthesis” is built around samples from a ‘71 conversation between critical philosophers Chomsky and Foucault on the need for creative freedom in human labor. Man Power creates urgency around the tempered delivery of Chomsky’s words with escalating, acid-drenched pulses, distorted echoes, and distended synths to simultaneously soporific and provocative effect. 

British producer and DJ Raudive turns out a cold-blooded, high-octane rework of “Parenthesis”. His minimalist composition puts a driving kick drum at the core, and the narrative is compressed down around the directive matrix of “Work” and the encircling echoes of “Repression – Oppression – Destruction – Coercion”. Raw electricity jolts bones.

Man Power - Kiloton Hardway Bros Remix

Coming from the traffic-saturated streets and lo-fi screamo scene of Mexico City, rising producer Max Jones makes his debut on Correspondant with the Cornetto EP. 

Lead cut “Cornetto” starts things off in the label’s signature style of deep, dark dancefloor warmups, with a live-feel percussive line and foggy drones shot through with confrontational midrange sirens. “Uh Oh” opens at a clip with an electrified, alien pulse, but keeps to the stripped-back core elements of thrashing cymbals and two alternating vocal samples. “Slow feat. Mijo” finds Jones teaming up with ongoing collaborator Alec Sander in a sinister, new wave-inspired cut, built around a narcotic vocal mantra and resonant, oscillating synths, while the minimal, throbbing bassline of “L.M.M” follows its own trail into a sonic wormhole, offset by crispy hi-hats to round out the EP. 

Cornetto follows previous label releases Polina, from Agents of Time, and The Ballroom collaborative 12” from Jennifer Cardini and David Shaw, and will see a vinyl and digital release on September 22.

An unreleased track recorded in 1983 discovered in a dusty corner of the On-U tape archives. Taken from SCIENCE FICTION DANCEHALL CLASSICS, a curated selection of classics, rarities and unreleased tracks from the On-U Sound vaults by DJ & Audio Visual artist Trevor Jackson.

In some ways predicting the electro-fied sound of Neneh’s worldwide pop success with the Raw Like Sushi album, “Dead Come Alive” stems from a mid-80s period when Adrian took a production hiatus from his beloved reggae, deeply upset by the murder of his friend Prince Far I (he would later rekindle the dub flame when the opportunity arose in 1986 to work with hero Lee “Scratch” Perry). Instead he explored the possibilities of new studio technology. Early samplers and drum machines were put through their paces on work for the Tommy Boy label and remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode.

Los Lopez is the Spanish pair behind True Story, a great new EP on Tokyo based  Blindetonation that comes with hot remixes from LosBikini, Johnson, Thomass Jackson and Bird of Paradise. 
 The Los Lopez duo, made up of Marcos In Dub and Alvaro Cabana, have released on the Days of Being Wild label, have had support for their music from the likes of Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson and X-Press 2 and have remixed disco gods like Mugwump before now. With two sizzling new originals here, they impress once more. 

Arresting opener ’A True Story’ is a popping cut with dazzling synths, colourful melodic explosions and tense drums that really get you on your toes. Freewheeling chords are frazzled and textured, whilst a filtered female vocal (that muses on, amongst other things, HIV) adds more fire up top and rounds out a fierce cut indeed. 

First to add their spin is LosBikini, a newish pair of producers from Madrid who have put out music on Logical Rec and Play Pal and who have played gigs across Europe. Here they layer in some real post punk attitude, swirling cosmic synths and a true sense of immovable drum funk. Last but not least Johnson, a close friend of acclaimed disco label La dame Noir, trips us out with a widescreen remix full of jangling chords, bold synth drones and turbulent, intergalactic vibes. 

The other great original is ‘Come Over,’ which has organic guitar licks and gliding drums setting a nice mid tempo groove. Oversized, reverb rich chords warble up top and freaky, dehumanised volts add a sense of dark disco dystopia to proceedings. It’s a monstrous track that gets remixed firstly by Argentinian Thomass Jackson, who has also worked on La Dame Noir before now. His version is a real cosmic chugger with big drums and wild acid lines, then Bird of Paradise (an alias of young UK producer Jo Howard who has ties with Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant and New York’s Throne of Blood) layers in lots of flabby bass, psychedelic lead lines and dirty textures to make for brilliantly machine made music that cannot fail to leave its mark. 

This is a varied and vital package from the always on point Blindetonation.
