Hot on the heels of their role on Correspondant Compilation Five, Mexican maestros Zombies In Miami return to Jennifer Cardini’s label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams. Following recent disco excursions on Hippie Dance and Bordello A Parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with ‘Take Control’ and ‘Last Gun’.
‘Take Control’ is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while ‘Last Gun’ firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. Complete with on-point remixes from the Lipsky brothers’ Simple Symmetry and Benefikt Frey & Nadia D’Alo’s INIT project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.

Für die 59. Ausgabe unserer Podcastreihe ist Rafaele Castiglione zuständig. Der aus Fürth stammende Künstler hat sein musikalisches zu Hause bei Amselcom gefunden, wo er auch schon zahlreiche Tracks veröffentlicht hat. Des Weiteren hat er auf Beatwax Records und Wasabi Recordings Releases herausgebracht.
Rafaele ist für seine feinfühlige und gerne auch mal experimentelle Art zu produzieren und aufzulegen bekannt, was er mit dem bald erscheinenden Track „Ayahuasca“ (Amsel008) erneut unter Beweis stellt. 
In dem für uns entstandenen Podcast kommt vor allem seine Liebe zur orientalischen Musik zum Vorschein, dennoch überrascht er auch immer wieder mit unglaublich groovigen und zugleich unaufgeregten, treibenden Stücken. I did not take time to focus on details or shape the sound too much, so most tracks are yet unfinished and it has a very spontaneous vibe to me. 
Thus I rather consider the set as a "preview" of what might come out soon. Still decided to upload it though, to challenge my terrible lack of musical output;)

«Since I was little, I’ve been immersed in the culture of the Mexican Aztecs and Mayas. So, logically, I’m attracted to magic and spells. Mixing both in my music is the perfect combination of my tastes and my roots». Seen from Europe, Iñigo Vontier’s assertion can seem puzzling, but from the point of view of a Guadalajaran DJ-producer, this blending of genres makes all sorts of sense, expressing the dreams of peoples steeped in mystique, whose rites have provided refuge and hope through generations.
As soon as the needle hits Aluxes («it’s the name of forest spirits, and it’s pronounced ‘aloo-chess’,» according to Iñigo) a channel to occult forces does seem to open up. The EP’s title track, with its sparse, unfathomable voices and its bouncing, metered rhythm, is like a spell operating its serene power over the listener.
The spirits are at time tricksters: the facetious Patito and its stubborn metallic rhythm brings back Vontier’s precious dark disco essence, which mellows out what would be more overly-serious Western electronic music: «I’m proud to help the Mexican Dance Music scene make its international mark, along with Rebolledo and others. My personal contribution, along with my role as a label head, is to bring this sound to the world. Musically speaking, that means that our productions are increasingly influenced by Latino – and sometimes Arabic – sounds, which makes them more diverse and eclectic».
Detlef Weinrich’s, a member of post-rock band Kreidler and a resident of Düsseldorf’s Salon des Amateurs, tasks his Tolouse Low Trax side project with elevating Macaco to the temporal dimension of a fevered nightclub, with a remix that is lightyears from weekender minimal techno, and closer to Dopplereffekt. Finally, with its haunting incantations and ritualistic percussion, Temazcal brings the EPs ritual to a close. The spellbinding suite, with a musicality and an originality which is all too rare on the electronic scene, prompts the artist to muse: «perhaps dance music sometimes lacks magic, but I’m sure there’s many dancefloors where we can feel it».
Leave it to DJ, producer and occasional wizard Iñigo Vontier to make that happen.

The opening of the 27th Chapter sees the revelation of Scottish artist Kieran Apter’s sophomore ‘All I Want’ EP, featuring Editions from Aera (Innervisions, Hivern Discs) and Manuel Tur (Innervisions, Freerange).

Newcomer Kieran is hotly tipped for success, having come to the attention of some of the best artists in the scene as head honcho and resident DJ for Edinburgh house and techno party ‘Tweak_’.

Opener ‘All I Want’ is a standout composition, featuring the vocals of singer/producer and Nicolas Jaar collaborator Leon Power. It is followed up by the instrumental ‘Elle’ which, more arpeggio-driven, shares the same spiritual feel and electronic soul as the title track.

The Editions on the EP are worthy of the original material. Between them, Aera and Manuel Tur have amassed classic releases on labels as seminal and worthy of reference as Innervisions, Hivern Discs, Freerange and Running Back.

Aera’s Edition blends afro techno, chopped vocals and a beguiling synth sequence to winning effect, in a version heavy on dark drama.

Meanwhile, Manuel Tur turns in two versions, both equally stunning. The first is driving and twisted; the most dancefloor-oriented track on the EP. Meanwhile the second makes the very most of the original’s vocals, placing the focus on live instrumentation and a disco groove.

A stunning and versatile package, we are proud to be a part of launching Kieran Apter's artist career and are excited for what's to come.

Suara Showroom releases are a good example of the current kind of dancefloor sound we want for the label. Quality music above all, with techno influences, some melodic shapes, great vocals, low-frecuencies fuelled basslines, sharp hi-hats… Four great tracks with their own character: Artbat goes into some kind of electro-pop sounds that fits in a wide range of club sessions. Jerome Isma-Ae & Tone Depth land with an intense track, full of synth harmonic layers and a big bassline. Stas Drive & Mystep count on lovely Cari Golden's voice for another potential hit. TYVYT_IYTYI. A dusty tape of six tracks unearthed beneath the Pinkman Broken Dreams division. Nothing is known about this unnameable artist apart from his sound. A legion of hiss marches across the cassette, a blighted beat bites into lancing synthlines that bellow and writhe in their pitiful attempt to escape. Strings are left to howl in turmoil in tracks born out of a crude joke and wry smile. Mick Wills offers no condolences, the Stuttgart man lashing away any humanity with his embittered edit.
