London based DJ& producer, Hommel, aka Tom North, is a man who knows his way around the club scene on the south coast, having been a resident at the now-closed Junk in Southampton for 3 years. He's clearly using that club experience to great effect on his contribution to the VA - "Beads". This one has absolutely expertly crafted, pitched and chopped breaks, with plenty of beautiful crystalline synths and swamping bass. You'll be glad to hear, that it's probably not the last you'll hear from tom on Noctambulant.

Mix number 10 is up, and this time we have a dear friend of ours from India. One of our favorite mixes and the most influential one, as we've discovered a brand new scene and producers thanks to our friend Aniket. 

Aniket Dabholkar a.k.a. Full Motion Disaster (also known as FMD) is the owner and chief operator of Filth Inc. - a record label and promotional channel based out of Mumbai, India, that's carved a name for itself by premiering/releasing quality Lo-Fi House over the past 2.5 years as well as music from accompanying styles such as Ghetto House, Ghettotech, Electro, Breaks, UKG and Trance. One could best sum FMD up as a producer, DJ and a label owner. He also works as a project manager in the videogame industry.

The aptly named ‘Upcycling’ is back with a fresh set of remixes taking contributions from Manami, Suze, Surgeons Girl, Outsider and Yushh. Delay Grounds wanted to take a slightly different approach to the process by giving each producer a single sonic element from each of the original tracks - taken from his field recordings - and allowing each to craft entirely new songs with their respective elements, hence: ‘Upcycling Rebuilt’.

As he peaks out from under the duvet, he notices shadows shift in unfamiliar ways. He immediately pulls the covers back over his face and whips his arm back in from it’s dangled position at the side of the bed. As the clock turns, each second is marked by a tick that fills the room with sound. The emptiness of the house is marked by creaks of settling floorboards and gurgling pipes, each made in inconsistent and unexpected ways. The air in his blanket sanctuary begins to feel heavy, dense from the sweated bullets, evaporated with panicked breath as the covers cling to his skin. He curls up and pulls tightly at the bed sheets. Just as he begins to feel safe, there’s three hard knocks on the door.

Delve into madness with a track by Canadian ghetto-house connoisseur Garneau. Part of a compilation by London-based label Shubzin, out on a pay-what-can basis. All profits are in aid of Youth Urban Arts Foundation, a charity that gives disadvantaged young people an opportunity to express themselves through music and art. Foot stomping bangers and a fantastic cause, what’s not to love? The track ‘CLM’ sees Garneau trying his hand at breakbeat techno, and is littered with gnarled kicks, earth-shattering bass and enough breaks to make even the most committed Junglist slow their roll.

Kalli - Flim Flam

The sound of Parisian label, Sample Delivery has only grown since its inception back in 2017. With producers DJ Suzmo, Gecin, Sun Gun and DJ Bivoul as the engine, this enigmatic four-strong crew have each ploughed out numeral releases whilst also bringing in other lesser known producers along the way. Sample Delivery can be remembered for it's undeniable quality, pairing top class production and sound with a marked visual language in their cover art.

Undoubtedly, one quarter of the SD crew, DJ Suzmo feeds into the maintenance of such standards. Clearly holding a deep appreciation for a whole spectrum of sounds, his 'Minuit Vingt Deux' is yet another essential listen. A love letter to UK jungle and hardcore, veiled with weighty jabbing kicks and fluttering, dopamine drenched synths. It's a fine piece of dancefloor engineering, poised to ignite moments of pure, unbashed elation for all.
