Exclusive Stevie R feat. Djanan Turan 'Bótsa Bótsa'

Melting away in eclectic eccentric soundscapes, riding waving waves from the land of Greece to London to the southern and northern hemisphere Stevie R's album 'Melt' poetically portrays the artist's musical and cultural journey in notes and draws close to completion. In 'Melt's' sound-potpourri 'Bótsa Bótsa' doesn't depict an exception but rather the opposite as the take, which features vocals from Djanan Turan, is skillfully intertwined into the musical melting pot of the album and unites Apollo's unique traits in an artsy, poetic and musical sense. Traditional sounds meet contemporary elements and affect the listener's emotions. The latter even more when Djana Turan's spellbinding vocals are implemented into the track's arrangement and soft acid-bleeps are integrated here and there to accentuate and emphasize the piece's overall mystical thoughtfulness.

Stevie R's album 'Melt' will be released on Chapter 24 March 15th, 2019.

Musician and producer Stevie R makes a welcome return to Chapter 24 Records with his Melt album, in which he showcases a desire to bring back ‘rebetiko’ - the little known, underground ‘blues’ music of his native Greece, music that was often outlawed due to its anti-establishment themes. As its name suggests, Melt is a melting pot of sounds and an intricate journey through the musical cosmos, an enticing and alluring soundscape that captivates the listener and invites them along for the ride. 

“Melt is the story of 13 animals trying to go to space. Each animal is a figure in the artist's life, accompanying the others on the difficult journey. Nobody knows where space is, what it looks or feels like. To me, space is where our fears disappear, our loved ones stand beside us, and the fights in our mind cease. Nevertheless, there is a different journey for each and every one of us, our Universe is unique and the animals always look different; in this journey we travel alone.” - Stevie R 

Melt is Stevie R’s platform to bring the rebetiko music that he was raised on, sounds that he believes are a real healing tool, to a wider audience.  The album unites the music from his childhood with music from Greece’s neighbouring countries - Egypt and Turkey. 

Gkii, written alongside Egyptian poet and glitch producer CERPINTXT, is a call and response song between the melodies of both Greek and Egyptian instruments, a cross-cultural dialogue that marries the two in a beautiful union as the track unfolds.

Expert Bouncers signals the return of Stevie R to his imprint Inside Out Records, working with longtime collaborator and modular synthesis expert TAOMA.
The EP starts off with Orbit carrot, a high-energy, left-field disco track with modular experiments, heavily destroyed vocal samples and a sense of musical freedom balanced with maturity that is characteristic of Stevie Rs recent releases.
No-holding back remixes by Intergalactic house legend Man Power and peak-time expert Freudenthal complete the first part of this EP. Sequential biscuits is a wonky collection of modular acid lines produced in the studio during a late night jam, and re-worked in a slow, percussion based dub by Parisinos.
