Are you ready to Be Happy? A veritable shapeshifter of a tune, boss man Steves latest morphs and melds, mixes and mutates, making merry mischief made for maximum musical momentum. Be Happy can be read in many different ways – suggestion, request, even instruction. In this instance, let us not over-analyse – what were dealing with is a multi-faceted humdinger of a house tune whose very raison detre is to induce a state of happiness. Steve deftly manipulates layer upon layer of elements into a euphoric and cohesive whole. Riffs tease then erupt, bass burbles and bounces, percussion cracks then takes a pause, ushering in a breakdown for the ages. Be Happy is by turns simple yet complex, busy then stripped back, heads down chugger meets hands in the air anthem.
