Hey…. Snowing now, I went out to do a little snow shoveling and to check on an injured whitetail deer that was hiding along the fence line of my neighbor’s property yesterday. Looks like the deer waited until the cover of night to leave, and probably headed into the riparian brush along the creek down the road. I saw the deer yesterday, as I was outside. It had an injured front hoof, and was definitely limping. The deer was well camouflaged along the wooden fence and bedded down under some bushes. I laughed because the neighbor’s dog was none the wiser, as to the presence of the deer. I was hoping that deer would make it, and survive, as hiking in the spring, I have often found deer carcasses, picked clean by eagles, coyotes, magpies and others, as the winter took its toll on them. There have been plenty deer in the yard here all winter long. I usually shake the dried apples off the trees once a week, and they fall into the snow. Then it looks like an army came through, hoof prints everywhere and nary an apple to be found. Anyway, this song is about my childhood. A dark and cathartic song. A little rough around the edges too. Trying to Keep You (Piano Day 2024)

A song about how I came to learn to play the guitar and start to write songs. I am very sorry for the poor sound. But at the moment I can only record with my phone. That's why I have to play the song in one go. The drums are just the built-in drum accompaniment of my amplifier, which I switched on in this song after the first chords. I will buy an audio interface and try to find a DAW (free or not too expensive) - if you know a free one, you can send me a PM.
One day I will manage to get a better sound, I am sure! But for the first songs, only all live-played with the drums from my amp recorded via phone, since I cannot do more at the moment. Perhaps some like it nevertheless? I am a bit excited about pulishing my first track here...

The Eclectic Collective – composition

This song began with JJ, as many of our songs do, who composed the outline on the keys, drums, and bass. He then let everyone else in on it immediately. Ken was first up to bat by laying his always cunning drums in there. After he had a beat to work with, Josh used his tree trunk of a five-string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Soon after, Tez and Stephen both laid their magical guitars in there. Once we had it all in the can, Stephen used his powers of production to give us a great mix.
  This one came together relatively quickly, which is a good sign that we're all enthusiastic about what we're creating. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
