Interview with Markus a.k.a Indivision:
- Can you speak a bit about the Indivision group?
- We started out as a trio, but for quite awhile I've been handling everything alone, Kaarel is still a member though but at the moment he is serving his mandatory 11 month time in the Estonian Army. 
- What was the first dnb track which you've ever heard and why would you like to become a producer?
- The Upbeats - View from the Inside. It sounded so awesome at the time. I had quit track & field, so needed something else in my life. I started out with any knowledge of how to write or produce music. In the beginning I spoke English at a basic level (thanks to music it has improved quite a bit). 
- What's your inspiration?
- My inspiration is the life itself, prolly clichee, but this is how it is. Everything I feel, see and affects me in life - it's all in the tracks from cycling till women.
- What's your plan for this year?
- I have an album dropping out this year, it's called 'Mirakuru'. 'Mirakuru' is featured in the mix aswell. In Japanese it means 'Miracle', the name came from a TV show called 'Arrow'. Also, I have lined-up a release on Liquicity.
I hope I can play in many European countries this year, such as Germany, Belgium, Austria and the UK.

- Why have you started to produce dnb?
- I have always been passionate about Drum & Bass, since I was in my teens. I had decks growing up and I did a Music Technology degree just to give myself the skills to follow my love for the music!

- Whose music inspires you mostly?
- Oooph great question… I don't think there is anyone in particular now, but when I was 15/16 and came across High Contrast - High Society album, all I wanted to do was make Drum & Bass like that!

- What was the first dnb track which you ever heard?
- EZ Rollers - Walk This Land (Paradise Remix)...I used to record all my favourite tracks from radio & my brothers CD collection onto cassette tape and listen to them, I distinctly remember being mesmerised by that EZ Rollers track from 'Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrells'... The Paradise remix was something else!! (I was 10 years old).

- Tell me a little bit about your future plans?
- I have been slack on the beats due to other career commitments outside of music… I would like to get back on it, get some more gigs abroad... Continue to work with guys that support me like Maris at Liquicity and  Marco & Valentin at Fokuz Recordings. I have my first set in London coming soon at Fabric so getting more things down there would be sick too!

Interview with Surplus:

- This is great selection! Why did you choose these tracks?
- Thanks mate, a lot of these tracks are tracks coming out on Soul Trader so obviously these are tracks I'm feeling and wanting the world to hear :) The rest are tunes that I'm currently feeling and feel compliment each other.
- Why did you start producing dnb?
- Hmmm good question, I started DJing in 1996 and got slowly more and more into it, so I guess production was a logical step from there. I started producing in 2000 on a hardware setup, however life had other ideas and I stopped altogether in 2005. After years being away from music I finally got bitten by the bug again last year and am now fully hooked again LOL.
- How can define your style?
- In terms of Djing, I don't really like to stick to one particular style but like to play a little bit of everything. The music I produce tends to lean a little more towards the liquid and soulful end of the spectrum although I do from time to time work on more techy stuff to varying levels of success.
- Who were the biggest influences on your music?
- I guess growing up my parents used to listen to a lot of Motown music like the Jackson 5, Diana Ross etc and I remember being interested in a lot of that music, as I got older I got into Hip Hop and was listening to Tupac, Public Enemy and Nas , I guess it's then I started getting interested in DJing and how music was put together, I think my first exposure to Rave was getting given tape packs at school in the early 90's with guys like Easygroove, Ellis Dee, Carl Cox, Grooverider and the early pioneers. Now days I try and listen to as much music as possible to get influences and maybe the odd sample, but this is not always easy to find time to do
- You have your own record label, The Soul Trader. Can you tell me artists who have released tracks here?
- We have signed quite a few releases from a variety of guys, BCee, Skynet,  Random Movement, HLZ, Salaryman and McLeod have all signed tracks to us and we have signed albums from AudioSketch and Drifta with a lot of other artists all contributing towards these like Total Science, Concord Dawn, Bcee and David Boomah. We have also drafted in remixes from quite a few producers.
- What will be the next big thing on The Soul Trader?
- Probably our vinyl series which starts with an EP featuring Digital, Skynet and Random Movement, followed by the two albums which are really coming together.
- What's your future plan as Surplus?
- Right now just to keep progressing, try and improve and learn, I still have a long way to go. I have some releases coming out on Fokuz, Soul Deep, Celsius and I have tracks which have just dropped on Mindtech and Soul Trader. I'm working on various collabs which is something I enjoy. I would like at some point to do an album but don't feel I'm at a stage right now to be able to write enough quality in a short period, so will probably just put stuff out as singles as and when.
