Ozan Karatasli discovered his affinity for music at a young age. By the time he was 14, he was already well versed with a variety of music genres and his library was ever growing. In 2006 he started his career by DJing at many different clubs. Wanting to elevate his DJing performance, he attended and completed his training at Pioneer Pro DJ Academy in 2009. He has been DJing professionally ever since, currently residing and working in Cesme/izmir.

Please, let me thank you very much for enjoying my first edit on Cesaria Evora's Petit Pays. Continuing in the same vein, I thought of proposing a new edit on a song by a young and wonderful singer born on the island of São Nicolau in Cabo Verde: Lucibela. The solid performance at the congas of a dear percussionist friend accompanied me at the piano and keyboards and cross the whole song becoming predominant in the second part of it: the percussive abundance is now out of the mix, totally changes the song taking it by hand and carrying to the south, towards Brazil ...

About Lucibela:
Lucibela was born in Tarrafal on the island of São Nicolau in Cabo Verde on April 18, 1986.  She began to show an interest in singing at a very early age.
Lucibela participated in the Sfinks Festival in Belgium then, in October and November 2017, she recorded her first album in Lisbon with Toy Vieira to the realization, one of the most famous Cape Verdean musicians of the local scene, who accompanied the greatest voices in the past, Bana, Titina, Tito Paris, Cesaria Evora, Lura and many others. 
With the album named Laço Umbilical (Umbilival cord) released in February 2018, the chanteuse is determined to conquer the scenes of the world.

About this edit :
I first had the chance to witness the power of currulao from the pacific region of Colombia with Nidia Góngora and her family in Cali celebrating a birthday on a party bus (chiva rumbero) and drumming and singing while driving through the streets of Cali. Needless to say I was hooked. It’s always exciting to see more Quantic and Nidia collaborations. The story of this song is about a death of a young boy from the fishing community of Timbiquí so a lament in some ways but a celebration of life in the typical spirit of the pacific community. I was just touching up the track a couple of nights ago to play at events and ended up doing a bit of a deeper edit and sharing, but wanted to make sure the spirit of the song is left intact.

The story, by El Extravagante:

This is a very special song, written and recorded in Montréal, our Cosmovision Records city!, it was during the famous ¨bed-in for peace¨  in 1969 by John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, where also the picture of this cover was taken. 

All my life a big fan of these 2 artists and their peace activism, this song makes me happy and gives me light and hope to know that we are here to make a positive change, despite the circumstances we can always do something and to raise awareness of the importance of peace in the world should always be a priority.

It breaks my heart to see all these wars happening, with music friends being affected and even If maybe I can't do much, I chose to speak up for peace from this little place we have as artists. Please, anywhere you are never forget to speak up for peace, ¨dance for peace, make love for peace¨ and that  ¨Peace is like mantra that we have to repeat over and over¨ J.Lennon.

When two DJs, producers and music lovers come together for the same cause, only a dream result can come out like this funky edit with hot Spanish flavor. This union is that of El Extravagante from Santiago, Chile and Bob Marius from Mallorca, Spain, who met to share their knowledge and musical taste reflected in this edit of the song "Tangos del Agujero" by Radio Tarifa from their album "Rumba Argelina" (1993 record label BMG, currently known as like Sony Music). 
Pure Andalusian folklore with oriental Arabic tunes and incursions into flamenco, here remixed with a Dembow beat and original arrangements in clapping and accompanying instrumentation.

We hope you enjoy this hot edit full of spice and groovy flavors of the new wave of Folktronica from the the Iberian Peninsula to the world with lots of love!

Some years ago, looking for modern representatives of the classic afrobeat, I found this Brazilian band that became one of my favorites of the genre: "Abayomi Afrobeat Orquesta". This version is a tribute to them and a gift for you, so that together we can enjoy a bit of their groove and vibe on the dance floor, and transmit that joy to the world.
