There's a story behind every person's canvas and brush. Mine is just one of many. I've been an enthusiast for poetry ever since I was in grade school. My favorite author is Shel Silverstein who wrote "A Light in the Attic" and "The Giving Tree". Every day during reading session I would pick up one of his books and read his simple yet complex poems over and over again until it was embedded in my head. I always thought that 2pac Shakur was amazing at painting pictures of experiences through his eyes. Poetry and rap music was the perfect one two punch for me. I didn't start actually writing my own poetry until I was about 24yrs old when a girl that I was in a new relationship when behind my back and left me for her ex boyfriend. Breaking up with me on my birthday I was pretty frustrated and upset. The only thing that could ease my mind was to write. I wrote the whole night which was a monologue to her about how bad she hurt me and all that I've done for her. I started to recite the poem once finished and I had a song playing on the radio in the background that went perfectly with the lyrics I was reciting. That day was the day I started putting in the effort to learn the craft and started rapping. I guess I have her to thank for creating another side of me.  It's been an incredible journey ever since and quoting Mike Shinoda in a Linkin Park track, "The journey's more important than the end or the start".  Oh and my website rhymepoetapparel.com is live!
