I was playing from 7 to 9 on sunday morning - that's why this set is more laid back than my club recordings ... some chilled and groovy sounds in the sun :)

Here you have my contribution to the legendary BBC Radio1 Essential Mix, aired on 7th of June 2014! I'm truly thankful and honored to be a part of this series - thank you, Pete Tong! 

This is the clean and mastered version - no talking, no introduction, just two hours of music! I put a lot of time and thinking into this mix and hope you'll like it as much as I do!

It was a fortunate coincidence that lead to Wankelmuts breakthrough back in 2011. It was his birthday and the Berlin DJ added his touch to his bootleg remix of Asaf Avidan ‚Reckoning Song (One Day)‘. As most of you already know the title conquered the charts by storm. It reached double plain status in Germany, was placed number one of Singe Charts in eight European countries, was the most downloaded track of Beatport 2012 and was played more then 150 million times on YouTube. Today we have him in the mix for you as he will be playing Free Your Mind Festival June 6.

Hier der Mitschnitt von meinem Set in der kleinen Holzhütte am Samstagmorgen auf dem Hexenwerk Festival. Das waren zwei echt abgefahrene Stunden, in denen ich hitschlampenmäßig gaaaanz viele "alte" Tracks spielte, die ich so schon lange nicht mehr gespielt habe. Nur Schade das man das euphorische Geschrei des Publikums nicht auf der Aufnahme hören kann.  Man man man war das SCHÖÖÖÖÖN -
 ich hatte eine Dauergänsehaut und bei dem ein oder anderem Track sogar Pipiaugen! #emorich

“Ahead of my GU42 Berlin album release on March 29th, I wanted to share a very special live set from the other side of the planet. Like Berlin, Rainbow Serpent is an anomaly on the rave map. This mix will be online for a very limited period only:

The best dance floor in the world. That’s the Market Stage of Rainbow Serpent Festival to me. The energy of the Rainbow tribe, the rabid vibe and feeling of unity are difficult to describe to anyone who has not been here. Simply standing on the dancefloor and experience this incredible sound system is one of life’s finer pleasures. I felt absolutely honoured to be trusted with the task to close the festival. Looking onto the dancefloor from the dj booth, the Market Stage painted a beautiful picture. The atmosphere was electric and love-drunk all day, Nick Warren and D-Nox brought their A-game.

This is my third year in a row playing here and the absolute highlight on my yearly calendar. In these years my wife and I have made friends for life here, which is why we release this mix with our beloved Wildwood crew. We have grown extremely fond of Australia as a country. This place has received us with open arms from day one and never fails to blow our minds in many different ways. It has become our second home.

Since then there have been several mixes that I have heard from him, and the truth is that they always surprise me!

Their sound is pure techno, dark, dense and  melodic, to listen it with very little light ...

Starting as series of events and growing up to a record label. Maybe you know him already as drummer of the band Here Is Why. He was playing in several clubs and parties like Berghain Panoramabar, Robert Johnson, Blitz, Burning Man Festival or in New York City, Mexico, Moscow, London, Copenhagen, Novosibirsk, Stockholm to name but a few…. This guy is off to explore the world. We may be wound up to a high pitch.

Musik ist für mich schon immer ein Realitätsfluchthelfer gewesen. Sie ermöglicht es mir mich aus meiner Umgebung  und dem aktuellen Weltgeschehen zurück zu ziehen. Ich kann mich in ihr verkriechen wie in einer Höhle.
