I have always wanted to make a rap metal track with Heartscore so I was super excited when he reached out with this banging hip-hop metal fusion production. The lyrics are inspired behind the Hawaiian legend of Nanaue the Shark Man. I have some Hawaiian blood in me, so I figured I would rock it, lol! I am super blessed to still be working on music with my friend Heartscore.

There are so many great musicians on SoundCloud, I wish I could make music with everyone of you. I often reflect on all the great music you have all made, how we are constantly making new songs (because that is what artist do), and how many of our great creations can easily get forgotten. Most of our songs don’t get a chance to live like those songs that get repeated on the radio. And while many of us probably don’t like mainstream radio, many of us would probably like our best songs to have a bigger life, or at least shine a little brighter and be remembered a little longer. As a way to breathe additional air into one of our community members older music, I selected 5 tracks from Hot Os discography and remixed them to make “Twenty Twelve”

Humongous thanks to Hot Os for letting me select and edit 5 prime beats as well as raid his Instagram account for Zine images. I deeply recognize the disparity in ways natural and human disasters affect different groups of people and the need for greater equality of care. I also recognize that I live with many privileges that others do not have. And with these recognitions, I still believe there is space for us all to have a gratitude practice while passionately endeavoring for positive change.  

I am grateful for all the accumulated creativity and work of our ancestors that lead to the eventual creation of the internet and SoundCloud which has enabled us to remain artistically connected during this period of increased physical isolation.
