Formerly referred to as Kidnap Kid, the uniquely skilled UK DJ-producer Kidnap is gearing up to release his debut album, 'Grow', which lands on August 30 via Armada Electronic Elements.

Ahead of his much anticipated LP, Kidnap has handed Mixmag a dub mix of his title-track for a premiere. Joined by former collaborator Leo Stannard, who provides the track's lush vocal direction, Kidnap's ability to create breathtaking melodies and harmonies comes more prepared for the dancefloor in this granular and gorgeous rework of the tune.

For one who possessed apt knowledge of such places, passage through such portals was indeed possible with proper preparation. On rare occasions, when the energies of the earth rested in perfect balance, such portals would appear in the most isolated portions of the world. Those who could foresee this would wait patiently in such places for the day of crossing, preparing themselves for this most unlikely of opportunities. In focused ritual they would etch symbols into the gate’s position, warding them from the Keeper’s wrath. As the portal appeared they would take the momentous single step into the beyond, striding confidently into a world unknown as they passed through THE DOOR.

EATBRAIN veteran L 33 returns to the label with his next solo EP, THE DOOR, as he continues to champion his energetic tech focused sound on the like minded label. With a legacy built on EATBRAIN across releases such as 2016’s Karate LP & a slew of further EPs on the label, THE DOOR carries on in this tradition with four tracks emblazoned with powerful sonic presence by the longtime EATBRAIN collaborator.

Following up on our catalogue, we’re happy to announce our latest release, featuring a single from the Finnish young prodigy which is Nosfer. 

After first releasing on Counterpoint back in 2017, Nosfer has been walking his sonic path, mainly through his collaborations with the Music Squad collective. While becoming a more spread out name in the scene, mainly through his music on Principle Records and the Music Squad label itself, Nosfer is still pretty much a rare undiscovered diamond of talent. 

Having the privilege of working closely with the artist for the past two years, we have been constantly surprised by the amount of creativity cored inside his sound. The first wave of this output comes in the form of this single, which showcases both an outstanding production skillset and an emotional approach to the “deep-tech” sound of Drum & Bass. 

Side A // Nosfer – Interlinked 

It is not that usually that we find a perfect balance between the highly demanding technical sound of deep Drum & Bass, and soulfulness of more musical pieces. For us that is the Counterpoint – the exact sweet spot of our sonic aesthetic. Interlinked, for us, is that perfection in equilibrium. 

The dark futuristic soundscape of the intro drops into a razor-sharp percussion, conducted by a very intense low-end pressure. The perfectly crafted midrange synth sounds tip the scales back towards the musical side, giving the track a noticeable twist towards a more melancholic note.
