Ex-member of the Madrid-based band Fira Fem (Aloud, Subterfuge), with whom he played at some Spanish festivals like Sónar, Primavera Sound, FIB, SOS or BBK, Manu Cachero hides under the moniker JackWasFaster to explore his devotion for electronic music.

In his DJ sets, live acts and productions, the artist focuses on exploring the most synthetic face of Disco, as well as Post-Electronic, Dark Balearic Wave, Post-Punk heritage, or the rawest and the most underground Acid music.

Participant to the 2015 Madrid edition of the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp, he has issued releases and remixes for labels such as Rotten City, Nein, Factor City, Aylevs, Playground, Quantistic, Emerald & Doreen or Esthétique, both by himself or alongside Álvaro Cabana or Talktome (as Jacktome).

His tracks have been played and supported by Andrew Weatherall, Eskimo Twins, Timothy Clerkin, Mugwump, Sean Johnston, Javi Redondo, Curses, Massimiliano Pagliara, Bird of Paradise, Amevicious, Leonor, Álvaro Cabana, Club Bizarre, Gameboyz, or JP Soul.

The positive reception of his releases and a solid hardware-based live set got him to play at festivals such as Sónar, FIB, Brunch In The Park, Paraíso, Electrosplash or UVA, in addition to clubs such as Mondo (Madrid) and Razzmatazz (Barcelona).

During COVID times, he keeps on producing tracks for Inflect (UK) as well as Rotten City and working on a new project, named Indies With Microkorgs, showing his more industrial and experimental side.

Next in our mix series we welcome Glasgow based Junto Club to take the reins  and provide the soundtrack to your Sunday evening. Junto Club is made up of a group of 4 long time friends who have created some fantastic music and released on record labels such as Snap Crackle and Pop and the legendary Optimo Music. Their sound can only be described as unique, combining electronica with some more traditional instruments. 

Junto Club have very kindly created a dj set of some of their favourite tunes for us and it's full of fantastic tracks sure to get your feet tapping and head nodding on this Sunday evening. We're super excited to have them on board and we can't wait for you all to hear this!

Counterterraism Guest Mix 14: Junto Club

@RichardRossa 's Stockholm based label Tom Tom Disco has become synonymous with quality and a home for spaced out, tribal disco that has gained legions of fans across the globe. Whether hosting a stage at festivals like Fusion or their music playing at intimate underground venues, the labels sound acquires the most discerning of electronic music enthusiasts and has a life of its own.

Recently we collaborated with the label and a selection of the Tom Tom Disco family to support Ballroom Blitz and Palestinian Radio Alhara to raise money for those most affected by the explosion in Beirut. Over the course of the coming week we're delighted to share the sets during this radio event via the Sinchi Channel. Featured artists include Leonor, Tushen Raï & Warum, Cornelius Doctor, Bufi, Hanzo & Yaman, Tony Disco, Rigopolar and Lucare b2b with Aurum.

@HanzoandYaman are a DJ/Producer duo and the heads behind @BellyDanceServices, a music label based in Vienna and Istanbul. Together they share their devotion to music and reckless attitude to creating tunes that make people want to move their bellies. Their multi cultural background mirrors the variety of sounds they create which identify as musical collages that aim for unity.

Fabio’s name is not new to the Latin American electronic music scene. This eccentric multifaceted Guatemalan producer, co-founder of the Sonido Moderna collective, Solemne Club in Guatemala city, Azul Rosa beach club in Lake Atitlán and several other projects (festivals, magazines and cultural spaces) has always been known for his insatiable search for a particular sound with the experimentation of various genres. In his own words, “Labeling someone into a specific genre is boring. Music, same as life; must be an open source, because the rhythms are there to be used in the best way for us.”

Counter, the antithesis, and Terra, the Earth, symbolise our ceaseless battle to navigate the tumultuous sea of a world in disarray. 

Week after week, we invite a guest, a luminary of the electronic music realm, to share their melodies and tales. These auditory odysseys become the score for our uncharted lives.

Amidst a world veering from its familiar course, we embrace it. We dance to a new rhythm, a reminder that even in a world turned strange and unrecognisable, our connection to the Earth and one another is a tether to acceptance. Life, it seemed, had taken a different path, and we, in the harmonious discord of Counterterraism, found an unconventional beauty.
