Here is the next song for our album, The Windmill of the Year. It celebrates Lughnasadh, a Celtic festival that takes place at the beginning of August which honours the sacrifice and death of Tailtui, mother of the Irish god, Lugh, and the last High Queen of the Fir Bolg. 

I find the music created for this by @APi_ZZ to be quite enchanting, nostalgic and towards the end, moving, as he once again reaches back to remind us of an age that Time forgot.

Children are playing in stacks of hay, 
On this long hot day in Earth’s Paradise, 
With their bellies full of your goodness 
They've no knowledge of your sacrifice. 
Their days are spent in blissful content, 
Far from feeling the pangs of lament, 
They’ve no idea even that we mourn 
The last High Queen of the Fir Bolg, 
The Great Mother, the Grain Mother 
Tailtiu, womb of our cornucopia.

When they're older, they will know 
How you cleared the land of stones 
While your birds fertilised the ground, 
Before the ploughing and the sowing. 
How they found you, lying on the soil,
Your body stiff; dead from exhaustion, 
How the long days drew in their breaths 
And their curtains ...for your requiem, 
The Great Mother, the Grain Mother
Tailtiu, O how you did suffer.


 Lugh, who fought off Balor’s blight
And famine from the scorching heat, 
Is leading you through the Lion’s Gate, 
Below, reapers of the harvest meet
For the festival and crowd the pews,
But they never knew you, Tailtiu. 

As the Sun begins its fall, to journey south 
We humbly offer these first fruits to you, 
O Great Mother, O Grain Mother, Tailtiu. 
As we stand here, we give honour to you 
And your self-sacrifice on the altar of Earth.
