Here is a remix/recomposition I did of the song "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. The original song has so much energy and depth, I really wanted to try to harness that energy and add and build on to it using my own style of production. After its outstanding reception following its initial release back in January, Wankelmut & Emma Louise's infectious single - 'My Head Is A Jungle' returns with a souped up package and is set to be released worldwide on 15TH September via Positiva. Heavily supported by BBC R1's Pete Tong, 'My Head Is A Jungle' was dubbed his 'Essential New Tune' back in February as well as receiving championing support from BBC R1's tastemaker Annie Mac. It comes as no surprise that the single is already platinum in Italy, top 30 in Germany (and rising) and top 5 airplay in South Africa!

Wankelmut who has mainly been deejaying in underground clubs in Berlin such as Sisyphos and MIKZ, became 'Newcomer of the Year' last year (GROOVE Magazine) and has been in high demand as both DJ and Remixer ever since. Wankelmut has a very entertaining and well crafted way of deejaying with a huge variety of styles from Deep House to Techno. Beside playing all over Europe he remixed Gossip, Jay Haze, Lukas Graham and various other underground records which established his status within the Techno House Scene. On his 24th birthday in December 2011 Wankelmut aka Jacob Dilßner uploaded his unofficial remix for Asaf Avidan's "Reckoning Song' to Soundcloud. More than one year later the now official remix has sold 1.3 Million copies on Sony/Columbia, scored over 100 Million Youtube Plays and entered the #1 spot in 8 european countries, as well as being the best-selling track on Beatport last year.

In cooperation with the talented Australian singer Emma-Louise, the duo deliver a finely tuned piece of melodic brilliance. Wankemut's faultless Tech-house production, and Emma-Louise's blissful vocals will have you instantly hooked and will be circling around your head for days to come. In addition to the supreme remix package from Gui Boratto, Kasper Bjorke and Solee, new remixes come from Friend Within, and Marc 'MK' Kinchen, who steps up to deliver one of his much loved MK edits which premiered last Friday on Pete Tong. 

Over the summer months you can catch Wankelmut playing at Urban Art Forms, Big Festival, Melt!, plus back to back gigs across Europe.

Opening track Lonely Highway shows off Tough Love’s big bumpy bass line’s that they're fast becoming known for. Its powerful 4x4 kick is backed up perfectly with skipping percussion guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving, while the classic throwback vocal provides nostalgic millennium memories, enticing the listener to sing along. A certified club banger!

Sweet memories is just that, a track for yesteryear. Tough Loves signature big bumping bass is perfectly balanced with soulful classic vocals. The track playfully teases from the very start, warm soulful pads, strings & keys eventually bring the track to its climax through the introduction of uplifting melodic chord stabs & cleverly arranged percussion. A sure favorite for nu disco & house lovers.

Love & Happiness provides a much deeper insight into Tough Loves musical production style. Its beautiful signature vocal is met with a rip roaring bass typified by their grand garage-esq drums. A cheeky occasional bass line wobble & break section exhibits their musical journey, as the fast rising duo tilt there hat to the UK Garage movement.  

Are You Blind completes this quartet of musical mayhem. Big & bold just like what we expect from the Tough Love duo. This track offers a deeper twist than previous tracks on the album, with its reminiscent verses, chopped vocal and cleverly amended hook line. Constant moving percussion & powerful organ leads prepares “Are You Blind” for any battle on the dance floor.

With a discography that covers melodic techno, deep house, nu disco-flavours and progressive, Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep imprint has been rewriting its own rule book in the past 18 months – gaining support from acts as varied as UK techno baron Dave Clarke, French house legend Lifelike, stadium dance star Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz.

With the release of Dusky’s effortlessly diverse “Stick By This” LP, the label’s boundaries are being redrawn once again. Ambitious, expansive but brilliantly cohesive, “Stick By This” joins the dots between Booka Shade’s melodic electronica (“Falling”), Leftfield’s dub techno (“I’m Running”), the classic musicality of MJ Cole (“Lost In You”) and warm Laurent Garnier-esque techno (“Need You Back”).

Adding further colour to the album’s spectrum, the album’s first single - “Lost In You” - is a deep, bass-driven piano house anthem that features the soulful vocals of Janai and has gained props from US house godfather Tony Humphries and UK bass talent Toddla T – the latter supporting the track BBC Radio 1.

Finding fans at opposite ends of the dance music spectrum is nothing new for the Dusky duo. Previously existing as progressive/ melodic house entity Solarity, Dusky are London based musicians Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman. As comfortable writing elegant orchestral pieces or stirring piano motifs as they are jackin’ garage house and epic techno grooves, their diverse sounds are united by the duo’s singular aim – to compose electronic music with depth, soul and originality.

Influenced by everything from classical and jazz to techno, UK bass and avant-garde electronica, their compositions have been supported by DJs as diverse as Dubfire, Sasha, Vincenzo, Shur-I-Khan, Motorcitysoul and Above & Beyond.

One of 2011’s most exciting debut albums, “Stick By This” looks set to extend their appeal further yet.
