When it comes to djs today, we won't be shy to say there are not all too many we hold in high regard over here currently...Then you go to the Golden Pudel and play with Phoung-Dan and your mind gets fried immediately. It's djs like Dan who has held his Gatto Musculoso night for 7 (or was it 8 years)at the afforementioned Hamburg, Germany club that give us faith that all has not gone to complete shit in this narrow minded static clubbing world. I could go on and on with the accolades, but why not just let the music speak for itself. You can catch Dan a handful of times a year at his residency at Pudel as well as travelling through various European locales playing quite often . Not to mention, he's also a very familar face at Dusseldorf's Salon des Amatuers, so stick your head in there if you're in the area. And If you don't know about this man, well, now you know.

NTS Radio Residency Show II

Yuzo Iwata aka Fabio Lazaro is an electronic music DJ and producer from Japan.
Combining machine grooves reduced to the necessary minimum with a fine acid-inspired track selection, Yuzo carefully grasps the mood of the scene while delivering a deep and mind-expanding club experience.

Yuzo is originally from Saitama in Japan, born to a Cuban mother and Japanese father. He moved to Sapporo (Hokkaido, North Japan) in 2011, where he started to host a series of parties named FLOPPY in the legendary venue Precious Hall – with not only himself on the turntables but inviting guests such as Nicolas Lutz, Jan Krueger, Fred P, Moodman, DJ Masda and KABUTO – identifying Yuzo as valuable and passionate organizer and DJ in Sapporo’s music scene.

Throughout the years, Yuzo played regularly at major events throughout Japan, such as renowned underground parties Future Terror run by DJ Nobu, FLOWER CAMP, experimental RURAL, to just name a few. In 2016, Yuzo moved to Berlin.

Disco Segreta announces DS M 006 official repress of 1984 italo-boogie track “Tobago” by Pat&Pats.

Ever dreamt to travel to Trinidad&Tobago? 
Disco Segreta makes this dream come true with its 6th release: the much awaited officially licensed reissue of this tropicalo-disco synth bass boogie atomic bomb, from the original analog masters.

Written in late 1983 by Mario Baldoni aka Miro (of “Real Life Games” LP (1977) and Brina’s “Stranamore” (1984) 7” fame), was originally released in July 1984 on the small Pineapple label  – a sublabel of Armando Sciascia’s “Vedette” – with close to no success and a pressing fault: a glitch on the vocal verse of the instrumental version, that affected all copies.
This tropical summerish blend of italo and boogie, along with the male/female alternate spanish/english singing, turned into a true classic of the genre over the years, slowly making the playlists of the most respected DJs and diggers worldwide. 

The 4-tracks 12" features the original vocal and instrumental versions in their original lenght, carefully dubbed from the analog stereo masters and taken back to new life through Disco Segreta’s usual respectful mastering. Also, two new remixes are featured.

“Miro’s Piano Paradise” on A2, is the truly unique chance of a new revamped version by the track original author, resulting in a balearic-infused mellow rework, inspired to 1989-1993 italian house era, whose key elements were – among others - repeated melodic piano chord progressions alongside lustful female vocals and the blueprint factory presets sounds of the likes of KORG M1, Roland TB-909, and D50.
Flipside sees on B2 the chiefs of Berlin’s “Oscillator” and “Dancing for Mental Health” parties, Tom Bolas & Andrea Dama, working with their “Bolas&Dama Dub”, a contemporary rendition of a possible “Dub” version of Tobago.

« Recorded in Busan, Republic of Korea by former US special agent M.B. Jones, R.O.K. Spy documents both his stay in a country on the verge of a nuclear conflict and his mission there (for obvious confidential reasons, the purpose of this mission is only to be referred to in an elusive way). While most of his personal belongings have disappeared – or, more likely, been destroyed – we are very thankful for the safe receipt of a USB stick containing 7 songs recorded in Autumn 2017, alongside a drawing and a few handwritten notes. We are proud to now be able to share these with you.

In order to do so, we hastily came up with a label. The circumstances under which it was born lead us into calling it “drama”. This release is DRAMA1.

The content of this LP is a seemingly disparate set of pop-not-pop tunes, flirting with dance music on songs like the apocalyptical disco Nuclear War or the bizarre and mind puzzling boogie Pusan Perimeter. Though it is quite hard to put words on M.B. Jones’s productions (one may accurately call it an “oddball” of a record), his musical testimony may sit somewhere in-between Holger Czukay’s most narrative pieces and Arthur Russel’s most cheerful moments, sharing with these two brilliant musicians a genuine feeling of intimacy emanating from each second of his songs. The only thing that may be said without a doubt is that these 7 songs are the product of someone whose ear has been attentive and receptive to all sorts of contemporary musical genres (from trap to experimental electronic music and EDM).

It’s still not clear whether the cryptic lyrics evoke situations which already occurred, whether they are oracles, some insider’s warnings or whether they are the product of a mind in a hallucinatory state. On Poison Pill – the closing song – he is particularly ambiguous : “the CIA bought me a trip / I put the tab under my lip / They want to build a shopping mall / On the DMZ wall”. We’ll leave the interpretation to you. »

Resident Advisor and Absolut join forces to bring you round three of Alternate Cuts, an event series celebrating the UK crews that keep their local nightlife scenes thriving. For little or no return, these promoters work tirelessly to bring their communities together. To celebrate this, we’ve collaborated with three crews to ask some of their favourite artists to play alternative sets. They’ll be exploring corners of their record collections that rarely see the light of day, in some of the best intimate venues in the UK.

On Thursday 2nd May, we rounded off the 3rd series of Alternate Cuts with a trip to Sheffield's Yellow Arch Studios where local crew Pretty Pretty Good joined us to host Tama Sumo. The Panorama Bar veteran treated us to an expertly delivered selection of some beloved broken beat bombs, transporting us from the steel city to mid-00s London. Listen as she unfurls soulful melodies and ruffneck rhythms.
