‘Entanglement’, the debut album by Michael Price fulfils his long-term desire to explore new musical territories, featuring Michael on the piano, with the addition of cello, soprano voice, string orchestra, modular synth, tape effects and electronics.

Throughout the record you will hear street sounds from 'Budapest' captured and processed on Michael’s mobile phone, as well as chamber music recorded direct to tape with vintage microphones in single takes. Album track ‘The Attachment’ was partly recorded onto a 1940s magnetic disc recorder, which immediately connected the piece back to a pre-digital musical age.

The cello and soprano vocal parts throughout the album were written specifically and directly for cellist Peter Gregson and vocalist Ashley Knight, whose expressive voice features on tracks ‘Maitri‘ and ‘The Uncertainly Principle‘. The lyrics for both songs are Japanese poetry sung in English, dealing with age, loss and the inevitable fading of beauty.

‘Entanglement’ was written over a period of two years on paper and by hand with Michael exploring oldest and newest technology at Abbey Road Studios and Snap Studios in London, before most of the recording and mixing took place at Vox-Ton in Berlin.

“I wanted to make an album that sounded like a dark, Berlin record store discovery from the 30s. Something that had timeless emotive power, and pre-digital rawness. Something that I hope would make a deeper connection in superficially networked times. I think there is a duty for artists to be honest, and vulnerable. Because then there is a possibility of real connection. Entanglement is both honest and vulnerable and to go through the two year process of writing, refining and recording an album has been more intense and more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK: Resembling the inter-connecting parts, the cover art for ‘Entanglement’ was created by South London artist Supermundane, with the packaging’s layout done by long-term Erased Tapes-collaborator Torsten Posselt at FELD in Berlin.

When not touring his latest album on R'COUP'D, Fink has recently made Berlin a place to rest his head. The influence of his newfound home is crystalline clear considering the artists selected to rework "Pilgrim" - one of the highlights of Hard Believer. Both Paula Temple and Brandt Brauer Frick submit reworks, but it's BBF that come out trumps in this instance.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (12th June) In Hour 2 it's a full on 'Robot Funk Mix' from Ed DMX who has been producing music since the mid 90's under a whole host of names including EDMX, Computor Rockers, BBII and most notably as DMX Krew on the Rephlex label. Ed has always mined the furthest corners of electronic music from Acid, Rave, Techno and here, to compliment the new release on his own Fresh Up record label, he digs into 80's electro funk featuring rare gems from Ramsey 2C-3D and Jefferson Ink. Ed had this to say about his mix;
"Seeing as both tracks on the new DMX Krew single "Funk Steps" and "Space Fonk" feature the sound of the vocoder, I thought I'd do a mix of some of my favourite funky robot voice tunes from the past along with some newer ones I made myself.

It’s safe to say that every 10th HYPR release we’re going to see a huge compilation drop from the Hyperboloid camp. Who is Stranger? Duh, the guy who made the song "House Party" featuring Waka Flocka, which is the title track of his first EP on Night Bass. Everywhere I go I play it and it just completely destroys the dance floors. This song has some kind of super powers. On top of that, there's "Then I Bounce", a sick dark techy groover, and "Wait a Minute" with its subterranean grime that drives this EP home. -AC Slater

Two weeks you've been scouring the arctic sea. No sun since you reached the north, the dark water a constant fractured mirror that meets the universe above and pulls you into its black fold. Everything points to "it" resting beneath the ice, in a slumber of centuries. 

Three weeks, now on land, you're getting close. Down here beneath the ice you feel disconnected from the world, like you are leaving the present as you spelunk into the past. You snap another glow stick and throw it down the ice shaft, the light strobes off crystalline walls as it reveals an ancient structure below. The Arctic Gates.
