We have the elusive Steve Murphy (@Stevemurphyridesagain) on our first mix of the series on Los Angeles', VPN Radio.

Steve Murphy takes us on a full journey through his vinyl collection. Yes, it's a full vinyl mix. 

Despite his artist name and his trademark sound, Steve Murphy does not come
from Chicago, but from Mira, a little town on the suburban area of Venice.
Steve has been djing since 2001, and in the past years has been rocking almost every club in his region. He is serious and professional behind the decks: playing only with vinyl, he blends electro and house, techno and new wave, acid madness and pop appeal.
Steve has produced together with Die Roh an album ("The Chasm") and one e.p
("Windy City") on Chiwax, and a solo 10" ("Planet Earth") on Rawax; these records
have been quickly gone out of stock and has been acclaimed by the lovers of the
classic Warehouse sounds.

In 2012 he has started the Riviera project and has founded the Muscle Records
label, together with Lucretio, Dj Octopus, Caio, Madì Grein and Chevel. The label is a
facility to spread what has been called "the sound of Brenta": a raw, nasty, machines
powered clash of house and techno.

In 2012 he also released "The Dove Ultimatum" on Vae Victis Records, under the
moniker of Durant: an unfriendly 12" of distorted electro and funky acid beats produced
with Die Roh and Lucretio.

Ukrainian native/Toronto based digger, @n_bru, serves up the next offering in the Opus series.

The Co-Founder of the Aliens party in Kyiv expertly stitches together a wicked mix of hypnotic dreamweavery, percussive whompers, pulsating prog and acidic squiggles. Wall to wall stonkers.

On a side note, the devastating scenes in Ukraine over the past 10 months have left us feeling distressed, crushed and at times, helpless. Whilst typically we'd like to keep politics out of music, this unjust war cannot help but provoke action.

You're standing in a small courtyard. Around you are three Khrushchyovkas made of gray brick and a slightly tilted concrete fence. Crickets are chirping in the tall grass. The dim light of a street lamp barely penetrates through the branches of an old poplar tree. You can hear a freight train crawling in the neighboring block. Someone left a beer bottle on a bench near the playground. A girl in an oversized crumpled T-shirt is meditatively smoking in the window of one of the buildings. Soon she will extinguish the cigarette on the windowsill, throw it into the flowerbed and disappear into the blackness of the window opening. And you will remain in the same place. Because you are a car covered with a thick layer of pollen, whose owner slammed the door and disappeared without a trace on the same hot night ten or even twenty years ago.
