A label undefinable by genre and rather by attitude, Moscow’s Hyperboloid Records have paved their way with an unwavering focus in curation. With a catalogue stretching back as far as 2008, Hyperboloid have continually sewn together futuristic productions and aesthetics, all the while building a family of artists who rep this same forward-facing mentality. 

A regular appearance within this sizable discography is Berlin sound artist, cadeu. Together with Hyperboloid, they now prep the forthcoming album ‘hy’; named after the label. This new body of work arrives without any conceptual forms inside, instead playing with space, composition and syncopation of moving parts. 

In ‘omg’, cadeu intricately weaves jagged glitch with a smooth and moody dancehall-esque refrain. An intensive skit-style track, hitting in a way that is as much body-jilting as it is brain-blowing.

++ TINNITVS - A 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY COMPILATION ++

In 2015, Club Late Music was created as an open-source music label, with the ambition to explore the production and diffusion of artistic contents by connecting artists worldwide into a network based on collaboration, sharing and mutual aid. It was quickly followed by the creation of the Global URL Nation in 2017 : a still growing community of artists, designers and enthusiasts willing to crystallize this idea into a tangible reality.

Five years later, after more than a dozen projects - from EPs and compilations to audiovisual pieces and installations, as well as many radio shows, live acts and club events - we are still more than convinced that collective action, togetherness and genuine openness are much needed guides to navigate our troubled times.

We are happy to celebrate this double anniversary with TINNITVS, a 12-track compilation made by members and friends of the Global URL Nation. With 24 artists from more than a dozen countries, it acts as a statement of our current mindset by presenting only collaborative tracks made by two or more persons. An embodiment of playful exploration and muti-faceted creation, covering a broad range of sounds and styles, from the lowest roars to the sparkliest ringing vocals.

As a reverse present to our supporters, as well as a way to explore further what open-source could mean in contemporary music production, the stems of each track are made available for anyone to use as they please when downloading the compilation. We hope this initiative will give birth to inspiring reworks and remixes, expanding the scope of the original tracks into new beings in perpetual evolution. We invite any contributions, from GUN members and beyond, to be sent to us in order to be gathered under a common project that will take shape in the coming months with the same mindset.

We are overwhelmingly thankful to anyone who has joined and participated in the adventure, as well as to everyone who has shown support in any way possible - from those who listened to our music to those who played it, from those who shared our content to those who involved us in their activities. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the continuous inspiration.

We still have a lot to learn and to improve, and we hope that this anniversary only marks a foundation to build upon. A basis that will allow us to keep further exploring sonic realms and visual wonders, as well as collective organization and collaborative processes.

Kamixlo has experienced a lot of loss in the last two-and-a-half years. His long-awaited debut LP, Cicatriz, is named after the Spanish word for “scar”, taking its intense and energetic tone from the tough times in the Brixton-based producer’s life. An extremely personal album that follows 11 songs with titles like “Sick”, “Poison” and “Destruction”, it pitches soft and hard sonics against each other to create an urgent and exciting tension as the track listing hurtles through its own emotional rollercoaster. It runs from the lurching drone and monstrously distorted vocal samples of opener “The Coldest Hello (Live From The Russian Spiral)” to the bright and melodic kosmiche-reggaeton closer of “Azucar” (‘sugar’), produced with Swedish cloud rap producer woesum.

Only just past his mid-20s, Kamixlo has been making a name for himself with his dembow and bass-influenced dance deconstructions, releasing three EPs since 2015, as well as running the recently defunct Bala Club party and label, named after Japanese pro wrestling group Bullet Club. The night was an inclusive operation that established its own unique style of cross-genre post club music for the margins, while allowing Kamixlo the space to develop his sound—one that was imbued with its own pop immediacy, as well as smatterings of emo, electro and hardcore.

British-Chilean Kamixlo’s Cicatriz is rife with surprising references. These include the thumping industrial of “The Burning Hammer Bop”—taking its title from one of the most dangerous professional wrestling moves ever invented—and the growling sub bass of “DKD Lethal”—named after DJ Lethal of famous nu metal band Limp Bizkit. Meanwhile, long-time collaborator, producer and Endless party founder Felix Lee appears on the scrambled rhythm and cut-up sampling of “Demonic Y”. As the saying goes, there’s no pleasure without pain, no resurrection without destruction, and Cicatriz is all these things at once.

The album is mastered by Beau Thomas, featuring artwork & graphic design by Daniel Swan.

Hyperboloid Records presents “Argo” by Fisky, a drum club music producer from Moscow, Russia. He has previously released on Hyperboloid both on vinyl and digitally (Traektoria, Virtual Tracks Vol.2), released on 22nd December digitally and on limited cassette
“Argo” EP is across-cultural journey, the route is outlined by references in the names of the tracks.
In a personal sense, this EP is a departure from the drum tracks of recent releases by Fisky to a more melodic release structure, an attempt to bring together his moods from different years.
