Shell Tapes are back! What a joy! After a holiday hiatus we’re glad to be presenting virtual cloud-cassettes assembled by some of our and your favourite DJs. This week veteran DJ and raver Coco leads us up the stairs, down the garden bath, through the bush and around the twist with Tape 80 - “Better Living Through Chemistry.” 
 
Coco’s self-help instruction manual is a measured one, winding and weaving its way gradually through tempos, surrounded by a miasma of dance floor focused audio psychedelia. To put it bluntly, listening to this mix with heaphones on is a fucking trip. Distorted percussion busts in and out of the stereo field with the energy of a clowder of demented cheshire cats, breathy vocals swaddle the brain, synths warp time and, amongst all this electronic chaos, a kick drum drives you onwards, anchoring you to Coco’s lesson in living.
 
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. This mix won’t kill you (we think), nor will it make you stronger… but it is a wonky joy to listen too. Put some spice in your life, send your head for a brief and consequence free six and out and step into Coco’s lab  - his acidic cocktail for life will make you all the better.
