The future is bright, a huge weekend of parties looms and, as the DJs say, "big things are coming." Visualise, taste it, meditate on it! Yes! Guiding us into this festal future zone is local producer, tastemaker and one of the brains behind the newly minted label Third Degree(@user-113301152), Nora Zion.

Slipping into pocket from the word go, @norazion1 is all gas and no breaks for this fifty minute fling - burning only the finest sour diesel. Seamless swaps between acid trance transmutations and depths-of-SoundCloud club tools happen in the blink of an eye, Crazy Frog says hello to Kernkraft 400 and the figurative smoke machine just never  bloody lets up.

Shell Tape 52 - Nora Zion - "Dance Meditations"

Twisting, whirling, twirling and shifting - a rubberised circle tumbles through the infinite. Coated in a hard chromatic sheen, its malleable form somehow maintains an bright solidity. As it dances through the nether world it leaves behind metallic figments of itself, overlaying individuals with particles of its dichotomous sheen. The man who released this strange rubber band? Willy Slade (@user-719393721-572155174), stepping into the Shell Tape arena.

For Tape 58 Willy digs deep into a dancing subconscious. Moments of light are offset by dark and silence gives way to rapturous sonic breakthroughs as he easily blends his way through future facing neo-trance, galactical broken bass and acid trip techno (just the right dose.)

Over the course of an hour tempos swell, crescendos crescend and we journey deep into Willy's outerworld. Flawless, dramatic and brain tickling, Shell Tape 58 wraps you up in a shiny rubber hug and flings you into the cosmos - enjoy the ride.

Shell Tape 58 - Willy Slade - "An Anodised Rubber Band"

Larry D is in the low light spotlight for Shell Tape 87 and this edition is all steam, smoke, bass and bounce. Straight down the line 4x4 techno takes a backseat, leaving room for Latin leaning polyrhythms, Afro influences and wobbly bass lines as we take a left turn for “Left-field y Latino”.

That left turn leads right to a heaving dance floor driven by ear worm vocal loops, South American melodies and the undeniable influence of contemporary Afro-Caribbean stylings, both underground and not so underground. The tunes made in the mix might be made by computers but the beats are anything but robotic, swinging, bouncing and gasping with a spectacular sweaty and off kilter energy.

Images of neon flashes on wet concrete, blurred feet and glistening skin come to mind when consuming Shell Tape 87 - it’s easy to get lost in the rumble tumble world Larry presents to us. “Left-field y Latino” is made for dancers so step out and get stuck in!

Warm and hazy music for winter (or summer) afternoons, settle into a groove and let this playful hour of dusty house, disco and worldly sounds that span afro-beat through to Japanese city pop deftly slide a smile onto your face.

A cornerstone at the Perth institution that is RTRFM, (youthful) veteran of the WA and Australian scene and mentor and mate to many, he’s presenting eighty five minutes of choice new releases, so hold tight for a slick and eclectic ride that runs through hazy hip-hop, all the way through to manic jungle and beyond. Yosh!

Shell Tape 05 - Wil Bixler

The sun is out. It's winter, but it's not quite cold yet. Is it actually winter? The sounds of Shell Tape 15 say no, delivered by the ever-sunny Larry D. 

Mixed largely with vinyl and put together with love, care and attention, this week's mix sees us turn towards the brighter side of dance music. Afro-Caribbean ditties mingle with Latin influences and sounds, whirling, twirling and step-ball-changing to a irresistible organic pulse.

Enjoyed best after knocking off early and pouring yourself an easy-going glass of Don Julio (or equivalent beverage), Tape 15 takes us out of the warehouse and into the sun, a fittingly feel good soundtrack for the end of the week. Step out of your metaphorical cave and put your hands in the air, Larry D's got this one on lock.
