A globally recognised DJ and producer well known to the local scene, returns to Belgrade - this time to 20/44 House at Karađorđeva 44.

The German DJ and producer, founder of the cult label International Deejay Gigolo Records, has been active since the late 1980s. His fusion of techno, electro, and dark disco sensibility brought him into the spotlight in the early 2000s, when he and several contemporaries established electroclash as a movement.

About Detroit Techno Militia (often simply called DTM), one thing is clear: this collective represents a relentless Detroit underground aesthetic. Raw, futuristic, mechanical, yet filled with feeling and soul. DTM is often seen as a tight unit rather than a classic “label”, more like an artistic alliance that treats techno as a movement and lives it as an attitude. Their sound moves between driving drum patterns, dystopian synth textures and that unmistakable Detroit melancholy, where even the hardest grooves still carry emotion and spirit.

What defines Detroit Techno Militia is its militant mindset. Not in an aggressive way, but in its absolute dedication. A mission for real techno, against mediocrity, against glossy surface trends, against short-lived hype. DTM feels like a transmission from another timeline. Detroit as a future lab, a myth, a machine room.

For this vinyl mix, we have the honor of welcoming J. Garcia and T. Linder as special guests. Two artists who don’t just understand this spirit, but truly embody it. Their productions are direct, hypnotic and uncompromising. Reduced pressure, raw groove and a depth that doesn’t beg for attention, but inevitably takes hold.

We are especially excited that we are not only able to feature their music in this mix, but also take the next steps together. We will be pressing the next three releases and distributing them across Europe. A chapter we approach with deep respect and genuine anticipation. And yes, it feels good to know that beyond the music, real connections are forming.

DETROIT TECHNO MILITA - Detroit Techno Vinyl Only Mix - VINYL MATTERS 041

In the world of techno, there are artists whose music is not simply played. It is experienced. Donnell Knox, also known as D-Knox, is one of those names. His sound carries the DNA of two cities that continue to define electronic music to this day. Detroit with its futuristic intensity and melancholic depth. Chicago with its unstoppable groove and that physical warmth that brings every room to life.

Donnell Knox grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a place that sits geographically and culturally right between those two worlds. That is exactly where he developed his sense for rhythm and atmosphere. Kalamazoo became more than just home, it became a kind of musical crossroads. From that perspective, he shaped a style that doesn’t imitate Detroit and doesn’t recreate Chicago, but naturally fuses both influences into something truly his own.

Since the mid-1990s, his label Sonic Mind has stood for that same mindset. Sonic Mind is not just a platform for releases, it is a long-term vision. A space for tracks that are not built for quick attention, but for impact. For energy. For movement. Knox sees his label as a channel of sound that connects people without needing many words. Techno as a language that reaches straight into the subconscious.

His productions often feel like a balance between machine and human. Tight drums, rolling basslines and hypnotic precision meet funk, soul and that special feeling that only appears when a groove truly breathes. You can hear that this is the work of someone who does not treat techno as a trend, but as a path. As something that can cleanse, sharpen focus and hit the mind just as hard as the body.
This vinyl mix is an invitation to dive right into that world. Into the universe of Donnell Knox and Sonic Mind, where Detroit and Chicago don’t stand apart, but flow into one another. Deep, direct and driven by purpose.

In our 25th year, EPM.200 comes from Marcel Dettmann. DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary Techno. Widely associated with iconic places – Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax – Dettmann stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of electronic music, integrating art with the scene. For EPM’s 200th Mix in the decades running series, Dettmann once again shows us why he is a true master of tension and release. With a techno and electronic mix that features artists such as Terrence Dixon, Jeroen Search, Sandwell District, Robert Hood, Alex Jann, Helena Hauff, FX & Black Sites, Ritzi Lee, Deniro and some unreleased gems from the man himself, this is pure sonic seduction coupled with total dancefloor de-struction. A perfect way to celebrate a milestone release!

His own releases comprise two albums on Ostgut Ton, numerous singles and remixes for artists of various genres – Junior Boys, Fever Ray, Moderat, Commix, Clark and Laibach to name a few. Fur-thermore, he has produced compilation albums for London’s fabric club, Berlin's Berghain, the Belgian techno label Music Man, as well as one issue each of the DJ Kicks (!K7 Records) and Selectors series (Dekmantel).

Outside of the club context, Marcel Dettmann has established himself as a multi-faceted artist. He de-signed the sound concept for New Works, an exhibition of photographer Frederike von Rauch, con-tributed to the contemporary dance project MASSE – together with Frank Wiedemann and choreog-rapher Nadja Saidakowa in co-operation with Berghain and the Berlin State Ballet. His single ‘Seduc-tion’ feat. Emika provided the soundtrack to director and screenwriter Parker Ellerman’s short film of the same name.

As a passionate DJ and one of the faces of Berghain, Dettmann seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure Techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new of the past twenty- five years, Marcel Dettmann communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.
