This is the live recording of my set as direct support for Lucy at an intimate warehouse in Denver, Colorado.  Lucy has been a big musical influence for many years both as a DJ and a producer. To have been invited to turn the decks over was an honor. And the crowd really turned out for it.

When Russian-born DJ and producer Anastasia Kristensen moved Copenhagen as a teenager, she discovered electronic music genres like ghettotech, Detroit techno, Germanic 4/4 techno, acid and minimalistic UK bleep. In developing these tastes, she drew on her upbringing with classical musical and ballet: thinking about the relationship between listening, musicality and movement; music- and dance-based performances which are “rough, full of attitude, change and disruption,” honing in on electronic styles that convey these traits. It’s this multi-genre, internal map-drawing that has made Kristensen’s club sets well regarded as a new DJ and producer, the latter through releases on the Montesario and Nous Disques labels, in 2015 and 2016 respectively. With a fire in her belly, 2017 is looking like her best year yet, having completed on a one-woman club tour of the US and become a resident at arguably Copenhagen’s best dance music club, Culture Box.
