Aside from working as a doctor, Mama Snake was previously a member of the now-disbanded Copenhagen collective Apeiron Crew. In the years since the crew parted ways, Mama Snake built the multi-disciplinary platform Amniote Editions, which platforms artists such as Celestial Trax, D.Dan and Yuri.

Her entry into the Crack Mix series is both sleek and percussive in the first half, before it dives into her signature style of hard, tough and tunnelistic techno.

Born and raised in South London, DJ and broadcaster Lil C combines a potent mix of Bashment and a love of global pop music with classic R&B, Reggaeton, Afrobeats and contemporary UK rap, capturing the sound of the transatlantic diaspora. Quickly making a name for herself as a formidable selector, her skillset has taken her to the world and back and her name is now one of the first on the list of DJs spinning for the best parties around.
 
The founding member of the London-based collective Prestige Pak (@prestigepakuk) and cohort of the BBZ collective as well as a Resident DJ for gal-dem, Lil C’s resume reads like a shopping list of achievements. Since making her Boiler Room debut in 2017, she has graced the stages of Notting Hill Carnival, Red Bull Carnival, Afropunk, Glastonbury, Lovebox, Parklife and more. Her ascent in the nightlife and festival circuit is the result of the endless work ethic displayed through her burgeoning broadcasting career, with her Prestige Pak show and solo slot on Reprezent Radio as well as a monthly rotation on NTS Radio. Over the years she has also provided guest mixes for national and international radio stations including BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra, Kiss, Rinse France and Lot Radio.
 
Radio has proven to be her breeding ground as she has become a tastemaker in London’s bubbling underground music scene, known for her penchant for the freshest tracks showcased in her shows. Working as an A&R for XL Recordings, Lil C’s love for music goes beyond DJing and her finger is placed firmly on the pulse of what is new, fresh and exciting about the country’s music scene. Her career remains at an early stage, but Lil C is already cemented as a major player.

"To be honest the main anecdote that ties all of these together is that i found them via shazam whilst listening to radio driving in my car & my car is lowkey the best thing i've ever/ will ever own and i feel like deeply connected to my whip because its this lovely vintage looking navy blue (my favourite colour) convertible audi & riding around in it with the top down on a sunny day is always the most simple, empowering & satisfying experience. Also it feels like subversive because so often you see old lame white dudes driving around classic cars like that & so to be a young black queer woman driving this motor around literally leaves me feeling like a fucking champion. Fragmentation and Union on the Search for Utopia


It is not Utopia that we strive for. It is not reaching a “destination”, as Utopia is no place. It is the search for Utopia. Upon the water, the boat floats. We are in charge of the sails, and we decide which direction we move toward. On this journey, no one said it would be easy. Choppy waters and going forward into the unknown darkness of night. Yet, the stars shine, as does the moon. And from above, there is light. And when hours pass and the sunlight breaks, it simply illuminates. Simultaneously this light casts shadows on the placid watery plane. We need both on this search ~ both night and day. Symbiosis leads to quantum leaps. On this search for no place, memories arise, and with them we move ahead in awareness. Memories fragmented and fractal, morphing and merging and changing with the tides. They gather along the way into a collection of dark and shiny pieces of us. Some we choose to keep. Some we choose to free. We honor them all, for without them we would not be here, right now. On the boat. On this search. Shaping new memories as we float. The Utopian heartbeat thumps to the rhythm of just one sound. Do you hear it? Love is calling.
