Off the back of his debut Arc EP, Kamera's second voyage on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label continues to expand his "visionary take on modern electronica." It comes in the form of Ventoux – a four-track EP reflecting back on the producer's own experiences of cycling Mont Ventoux, the gruelling 'Beast of Provence' mountain range in France, and providing the name of his most concise and intriguing opus yet. Title track "Ventoux" resonates long after the closing chords have faded. It stands out in poignancy compared to the rhythmic emphasis of the three cuts surrounding it. Chiming synths sustain the melody that loops dreamily throughout, allowing yourself to momentarily drift off into the open soundscape Kamera has painted. Ventoux blends the physical and cerebral with ease, in a sound that is both "refreshingly futurist, yet completely timeless."

Ventoux drops on 29th January 2016.

Mexican-American bad-boy Victor ‘Harvard’ Bass has always brought together the raw appeal of American booty with the style and function of European Ass. His sound has earned him in-crew-sion in Seth’s Tuskegee / Big Titty Surprise posse, Green Velvet’s Relief, and of course Tiga's Turbo. With years of releases under his belt, he’s maintained an impressively consistent voice.

It all comes down to the fact that he is a bonafide sex addict who managed to turn a problem into a career by combining his obsession with thickness and his prowess for production. ‘Lose My Mind’ can be heard as Harvard Bass’ confession, his plea of insanity set to the sound of a perfectly functioning Ibiza super-club, complete with sexy paid dancers, industrial smoke cannons, and the kind of mass communal ego death that comes from 10+ straight hours of tech-house.

'Sky High' rushes into the main room with racing hats and a ghetto-ready bass line that builds ‘Cajually' alongside the repeating vocal hook ‘Baby gonna see me fly… tonight.’ When else we gonna see you, fly, man?

Around three years ago we stumbled across a remix of Daniel Avery's 'Water Jump' that left us speechless. It was by a pretty much unknown artist called Dimitri Veimar and it got Avery's seal of approval, as well as ours.

Since that bootleg dropped, he's been working away and crafting more mechanical tech wonders so it seems fitting that his next release arrives via Omnidisc, one of our favourite labels around.

There’s a big reason to celebrate, as we face the 150th release on Cocoon Recordings! That’s right, 150 prime cuts with a number of milestones. It’s hard to single out any one for particular praise but even so, we still have something very special planned for the anniversary. With a certain affection, we wanted to present an artist from the region so it’s with great pleasure that we can unveil “Countach” from the one and only Butch, as a more than worthy anniversary release. The native Mainzer and sometime Berliner is without doubt one of the most dazzling German Tech-House artists of the moment. His performances contain a full dose of funkiness and his self-made promo videos never fail to entertain, providing a lot of fun in the process. First and foremost though, Butch is an exceptional producer, who, as one of the chosen few, knows how to mix together those special ingredients that drag us onto the dance floor again and again. What’s more, since we really have something to celebrate, we don’t just have an original from Butch, it’s accompanied by a remix from none other than Kölsch!

If the term "man of the moment" applies to any artist then it’s got to be Kölsch! At least that’s true when it comes to hypnotic techno with a subtle yet seductive touch of trance. Kölsch is currently operating on another level. Whatever he touches turns to gold, turns moments on the dance floor into unforgettable experiences to be written down in the annals of techno.
His Kompakt release "Cassiopeia", as well as his remixes including the Chemical Brothers, stand out as musical testimonies of the past two years. The series of musical landmarks from the house of Kölsch is endless and his remix of Butch’s "Countach" is no exception!

With poise and purpose like the Lamborghini of the same name, Kölsch takes us on an epic journey with his remix here, but as things progress he still has the foresight to jams on the brakes, keeping the dance floor honest by slowing things down to cruise control for the middle of his ride. What a trip, a true adventure, a techno road movie that could only come from Kölsch!
Of course, after a remix like that, there’s not much left to say but this is techno and our man Butch is anything but normal! He just knows instinctively how to bring things to the boil and demonstrates it very impressively again on his original version. Implementing a ‘nasty’ arpeggio line that captivates us before being hunted down by a prime-time filter, Butch summons up an acid monster that works without a 303 but is no less effective. If that’s not enough Butch also proves himself a master of ecstatic dance during the closing sections, serving up an emotional string arrangement that glimmers and shines. As a result, “Countach” with his nice fat strings becomes an instant dance floor catcher.

It’ll probably be very difficult to pick a favourite from these two mixes, which makes this cut even fatter! It’s a great release brimming with pathos and full-on emotions.

The Italian producer has had a busy few years touring North America, South America and Europe, not to mention dropping releases on labels like Ovum and Tenax Recordings. Meanwhile his UNCAGE imprint, which he runs alongside Norman Methner, has quickly cemented a reputation for quality house and techno; releasing music from artists like Eduardo De La Calle, Pablo Mateo and Fabio Della Torre (under his Corcos moniker).
With its rolling percussion and a heady spoken word sample, ‘Find The Song’ introduces a quintessential Rekids record. Thunderous kick drums and piercing stabs then form the high-octane ‘Arcane’ before the dark and ominous ‘Justice’ demonstrates industrial elements and floating atmospherics. Tying it all together, tantalizing melodies join echoing effects for the final track titled ‘Layers’.
