Last night’s revelations were still ringing in her ears; the unexpected had finally happened. Positively the rumour mill had now come to an abrupt stop and the Chinese whispers had dissipated into the air, but was it worth the pain? Probably not. The foundations had been stronger than ever, or so she’d thought, but she’d been living in a fantasy world; looking at life through rose tinted glasses, instead of seeing what was right in front of her.

French producer Endrik Schroeder has proved himself a purveyor of all things Italo disco, electro, new wave and techno. After releases for Zone, Bordello A Parigi and Ritmo Fatale, he gears up for his debut EP on Beartrax’s Melodize with two-tracker ‘Same Day’. Bolstered by remixes from Permanent Vacation co-founder Benjamin Fröhlich and Robert Johnson’s Chinaski, who’s in charge of today’s premiere, the release is another example of Schroeder’s aptitude at blending elements of synth, new wave, disco and vintage house music full of colour and groove.

The fourth EP in the Duality Trax series comes from Steffan Todorović and Joonas Arro under their Abdul Raeva alias. It’s a sonic match-made-in-heaven, with both contributing artists and label head sharing an admiration for bouncy, fun and deep club music that dangles its legs on the border of emotionality without taking itself too seriously. 

Ear-wriggling acid lines and psychedelic atmospherics balance a gritty and driving drum rhythm across a kaleidoscopic six minutes for lead track 'Atlas Coporation', before ‘Death Race’ blends techy dub with Abdul Raeva’s signature proggy sauce, best played as the sun begins to rise again. 

Staying true to the concepts of gender and sonic duality, the remix comes from Australian DJ and Pure Space-founder Andy Garvey who turns in a breakbeat-laden, broken acid-techno rendition of the A2, before we come to a meditative close with the tropical, downtempo sounds of ‘Guardian of the Vault’.

Over the past few years Jakob has become an influential figure in the Stuttgart scene, running events with his Midnight Service crew and playing alongside acts like Johannes Albert, Marie Lung and Panthera Krause. When he’s not been playing live he’s been notching up acclaimed releases on Frank Music, Zissou, Skylax and Berlin Bass Collective as well as his own Constant Change imprint.

Title-track ‘Sparkling’ kicks off the EP with crunchy percussion and rounded bass notes. Classic piano lines interplay with spiralling synths and acid hooks while echoing snare hits drive you through this peak-time track.

'Enjoy The Light’ blends modern Deep House sounds with club-focussed 90’s nostalgia. Low slung drums and shuffling percussion bounce alongside bright keys and breathy angelic vocals while spaced out synth licks unfold across the track giving an added sense of depth and warmth.

The twelve-track album big bang of determined self-producing Swiss autocrat Kate Wax's dark electronic musical universe was mixed in sensitive harmony with new friend James Holden in his London studio, following which James seized upon the parts stashed on his hard drive to string two of the most club-friendly album cuts out into the dancefloor-optimised vinyl-only hedonistic symphonies you see before you.
