Higher Calling

Arietha Lockhart, Soprano.  Concert, Oratorio and Opera. Performs Contemporary Opera and Artsongs.  Particularly the music of Women and Living Composers.  She has performed the majority of Soprano roles for the Oratorio  Masterworks of Handel, Haydn, Mozart, and Bach.  Her Contemporary repertoire includes the "Levertov Songs" of Mary Badarak, "Soon I will be done" arranged by James Cockerham, Samuel Barber's" Knoxville: Summer of 1915", Curtis Bryant's " Laughing Monkeys of Gravity",  Carol Worthy's "Lament",  Adrienne Albert's "Owl and the Pussycat, and  Sharon Willis' "Earth Light".  She has an affinity for early music including Bach and sings his instrumental like vocal lines with a flute-like quality.
