Our culture increasingly celebrates perversion, victimizes the vulnerable, cancels the truth-tellers, teaches what is contrary to God’s word in the classroom, and attacks Christian perspectives with prejudice and without impunity. In general, believers are called to gracious restraint under oppression. But should people of faith ever fight for truth in the face of adversity? And what should that look like? Pastor Steve preaches from Abram’s rescue of his nephew Lot in Genesis 14:1-24 and reveals 3 ways authentic faith should guide our approach to a God-glorifying life when the attack comes—inspiring bravery in adversity, humility in victory, and integrity in our actions. Steve’s message follows a prayer for Cornerstone Church in Ames and the families of the victims of the recent shooting there. Steve also presents a particular need for a new hire to focus on youth ministry at Creekside.
