A short (and slower !) version of Sandansko Horo from Bulgaria for the purposes of the course Rhythms of the World. It is in E Minor and the time signature works as a 22/8. You can count it as a 9/8 x2(short short short long) and then 2 crochets at the end, as a tag.

Sandansko Horo

An arrangement of Fog El-Nakhl, a well-known Iraqi song for the course Rhythms of the World. I played it in D Hijaz and used three different rhythms (Maksum, Laf and Ciftetelli). I also made it a bit longer and with some places that the students can improvise. 
The form is Drum Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Ney Improv (16 bars) Drum Break (8 bars x 4)Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus Chorus.
