Gilles Peterson and Havana Club went through hundred of entries, and chose 10 artists from around the globe to deliver Havana Cultura Mix – The Soundclash!

Here is the 2nd track we reveal off the album. Introducing Raumskaya and Daymé Arocena…

Sub bass, dirty drums, spheres and soulful voice cuts are the core of Saint Petersburg-based producer Gleb Voev (Raumskaya)’s sound. He is one of the creators of Beryoza Russian Ghetto Community project— “Our childhood memories incarnated in bass music and pop melodies from the past,” he explains. 

“Daymé has a beautiful, powerful voice and a big, romantic heart,” comments Gleb. “I think we created a soundtrack for life filled with emotions and kindness— it’s a song about love as the music in my life.”

Gilles Peterson's 'Havana Cultura Mix – The Soundclash' (Brownswood) is released on 27th October and we've got a tune from the album available for you to download for absolutely nuthin'.

The product of a remix competition which brought 10 unsigned artists to Cuba to work in the studio with local musics and vocalists, the fifth Havana Cultura project infuses electronic styles less prevalent in Havana — house, footwork, trap and trip-hop — with traditional rhythms such as rumba, salsa and so on.

An ambitious project with impressively refined results, one of the many stand-out talents on the compilation is London's Rukaiya Russell, who fuses UK funky beats with the rich brass and soulful vocals from Los Niches & Charly Mucha Rima on 'Ritmo Sensorial'.
