Been Here Before is Cristian Hidalgo’s first EP of the year — a three-part journey through the most sensitive and introspective corners of progressive house. A work that flows between contemplation, nostalgia, and inner exploration.

On a journey to explore my soul. 
Audiovisual artist, producer, live jammer and wandering soul. Based in Argentina. Here I post my finished and unfinished demos.  And maybe a live jam or two. Enjoy.

When the word “rave” meant a warehouse full of smiley happy people and a “DJ” was just one of the lads with some 1210’s and a killer collection of vinyl, hawXy was on the dancefloor taking it all in. 
The vinyl collection was growing and his sets were usually at after parties or house parties on someone else’s decks!! Having got hold of some snide 1210’s hawXy got his first break DJing in a Club in 1997 delivering an early Trance set. 
Trance was in its infancy and who could have known what a massive genre this would become! You’ll find hawXy playing most genres of dance music from early ‘90’s Old Skool Piano House to banging Techno but Prog and Trance are arguably his favourite toys to play with these days……Trancendance is the playground!

Dive into the mesmerizing world of Audio Theft, where deep organic soundscapes, groovy basslines, and hypnotizing melodies converge. With a knack for fusing genres like Progressive, Melodic, and Organic House, he crafts an enchanting blend that captivates audiences.
 
His musical journey traces back to childhood, drawing inspiration from the likes of Hot Since 82, London Grammar, and Stan Kolev. Hailing as an embraced product of Sri Lanka's rich music culture, he seamlessly transitioned into Melbourne's vibrant scene upon arrival, finding his true home amidst its pulsating beats. 

Each of Audio Theft's sets is meticulously crafted to take listeners on a soul-stirring journey, from the first note to the final crescendo. Welcome to his world.

Cristian Hidalgo is an electronic music producer, live act performer, and the founder of You Wouldn’t Understand, a boutique record label that celebrates emotional and genre-defying sounds.   Based in Buenos Aires, his productions blend progressive house, deep grooves, and cinematic textures—earning support from artists like Hernán Cattáneo, Nick Warren, Max Graham, and Pretty Pink.

Cristian also teaches music production at Escuela Sónica, sharing his passion and knowledge with the next generation of producers. His releases have been featured on respected platforms such as The Soundgarden, Pneuma, Deep Woods, and Proton.
