We take things back to the clubs, with a debut on Sous Music for UK-based producer Because Of Art whose recent success comes from releases on Sasha’s LUZoSCURA LP, a single on Skream’s Of Unsound Mind, “Lost In The Sun” for the prolific Stress Records and most notably ‘Elevate' released on tastemaker Danny Howard's Nothing Else Matters label which went on to spend over 6 weeks on top of the Beatport Leftfield House & Techno chart. 

‘Ethereal’ is a stand-out slab of feel good melodic house. Just what we all need as we emerge from lockdown to make the most of the last of summer and look forward to more normal times ahead. As Anja says herself, “as soon as I heard Ethereal I knew this was going to be a big record for the end of the summer. The vibe is so fun and positive. The reaction it gets every time I play it just shows how much people have missed this energy”.

Trick Track Records is a new label in the Dutch scene and their latest installment is a 5 track VA that brings back the spring in 'Springed'.  The release is structured as a pallet of sound whereas each track is unique in its own way, having its contribution to the overall sound of the release. Beginning his sonic journey in his hometown of Oslo five years back, rising Norwegian maestro, Finnebassen has since developed a small but slick back catalogue of house cuts. It was his Noir Music housed, hotly tipped ‘Touching Me’ jam and the R&B leaning ‘If You Only Knew’ that landed Finn in continuous rotation on dancefloors around the world. Bearing an ambitions approach to the biz, Finnebassen is carving out a solid name for himself across the Norwegian capital and beyond, appearing at our very own Farringdon haunt this coming weekend.

So, just a few days ahead of his awaited appearance when he teams up with London party collective You And We in Room Three, Finn has fired over a new and exclusive mix whilst giving us the lowdown on everything Finnebassen.

When Steve Lawler first sent us “Crazy Dream,” he told us that he had made the record “specifically with Turbo in mind,” thus sending us on a quasi-lucid journey down a rabbit hole of self-discovery from which we have only recently emerged. 

Most labels would simply talk up a nuts-to-the-wall floor-filler with a killer “White Horse” bassline from an acid house legend and be done with it, but the fact remains that if we forgo an opportunity to learn more about ourselves as dance music imprint, we are doing our fans a disservice whether they could possibly be expected to realize it or not. 

We hired a board-licensed Forensic Poet to parse the track’s lyrical references to nothing being “quite as it seems,” “feeling naked and confused,” and rising above “the push and shove.” What was he trying to tell us? The poet assured us that all it meant was that Lawler admires Turbo and thought the track would be a good fit, and that we should put our clothes back on, wipe the confused looks from our faces, and stop pushing and shoving one another because everything was exactly as it seemed. We paid him his $25 and did as we were told.

For the remixes, we took a track made especially for us and enlisted a diverse cast of Turbo All-Stars to spin it into a release for everyone, a proprietary practice we call "Human Alchemy: The Future of Generosity™.” Finland’s Jori Hulkkonen, Belgium’s Charlotte de Witte, and Argentina’s DJs Pareja trace a beautiful global triangle for lovers of acid bangers, stripped-down techno, and tripped-out weirdness, respectively. At Turbo, giving party people what they need is more than just a crazy dream. It’s a crazy reality.
