Crompton's Thresher are the product of an industrial accident in a mill that fused rock with some folk... or something. Anyway, a sound thrashing was delivered to the 7 year old child responsible for the accident. Their name comes from the legend of Samuel Crompton trying to buy a threshing machine through the Georgian ad-mag. He gave up with this attempted acquisition and invented the Spinning Mule instead which was crap for farming but turned out to be good for cotton spinning. True story. Really. Look it up...

Anyway, in late 2012 the 4 members of 'The Thresher' recorded their début acoustic EP which is available to all who want it for free. Since the recording of the EP 'The Thresher' have been busy threshing it out live & are on the lookout for a syncopated rhythmic converter (drummer to you and me). A début album seem to be the next step so stay tuned to the saga...

Hi. Many Thanks for looking at my profile. I like many others on here seem to have a natural ability to write songs and compose music. Although individuals can be judgemental on whether the songs are good or bad I feel that anything that is born out of inner creativity or a higher consciousness has to have some merit of good. So here I am, After 30 years and more of playing the system in working a mundane job that withers my soul, I am trying to attempt to make music my living. I would appreciate any assistance from producers, record companies, managers who can see the potential in my work. I thank all of you who are following me on here and thank all of your comments. Kadia are a folk trio from Dorset, performing a lively mix of old English ballads, traditional fiddle repertoire, contemporary folk songs and covers with a twist. Combining fingerstyle guitar, cello and mandolin, the core sound is augmented by ukulele, flute and meticulously devised three part harmony. 

Chris – Fingerstyle and Rhythm Guitars/Vocals/Melodeon
With a remarkable ability to reinterpret harmony and melody and express these interwoven strands through impressive fingerstyle arrangements, Chris is the driving force behind Kadia's musical style. His raw and expressive vocal style lends itself well to sharing dramatic narratives that underpin so much great traditional material.

Lee – Cello/Vocals/Flute
Lee is a classically trained singer and cellist who built on his self-taught skills as he studied music and composition. A love of history has combined with music to lead him down the path of traditional music. 

David – Mandolin/Vocals/Ukulele/Percussion
David wields vibrant treble instruments with incredible skill and dexterity, drawing on multiple influences from Jazz to Bluegrass when improvising and composing. He blends this with driving percussion and adds his distinct tenor to the harmonies whilst leading a number of well loved shanties.

ANY MAJOR INFLUENCES OF NOTE?

Oh wow thats like asking me “what’s your favorite episode of fresh prince?”. Well let’s start with the King of pop Michael Jackson. I also love the old Motown like Bill Withers, Muddy Waters, Stevie Wonder. Jimi Hendrix for how he revolutionized guitar and the Jam scene The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia for almost the same reasons. I have drawn vocal comparisons to Seal and Darius Rucker and oddly enough hadn’t listened to their music until then. I have grown to appreciate their sound and others in that “grown on me category are Maroon 5, Chili peppers, Sublime, No Doubt. Some timeless icons in Daft Punk, Usher, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé. Hip Hop legends like Kanye West, Jay-Z, 2pac, Nas, Big Pun, Eminem, Ludacris, lil wayne. Drake and Kendrick Lamar in that in-between stage. Up and comers like the Weekend and Hozier There are so many incredible artists that I draw inspiration from I feel terrible because I know I’m leaving out at least 20 names that should be up here. Like John Mayer. 

WHAT IS YOUR SOUND LIKE?

I have been asked that question so much and every time I give a different response. I guess it’s the same as my sound constantly changing and evolving. My friends would always joke and say I never write the same thing once. It’s a sound I am sure most people will hear and say oh well the drums sound like this but the melody has a different feel and the drop seems to change genres. It’s subtly a mesh of whatever genres I last listened to. I try to keep the lyrics clever and clear while leaving room for interpretation and some punchlines you will only understand the 4th or 5th time through the song. I guess If I had to describe my sound in one word? Maliciousmelodys.

GREETINGS and welcome to my page! So at the minute I'm compiling all of my recent work into a new album which will hopefully be recorded this Autumn..! In the meantime however I'm very excited to announce that my first music video is soon to be published by WheelBellow! I've seen a first draft and I'm really pleased with it! Can't wait!

I draw from traditional songs, ideas and phrases and weave them into my songs and to add to the rich tapestry of folk music. But I've not always been a musician, I trained in architecture and as a child I never really engaged with music. It was only later when I discovered one of my mothers Lightning Hopkins records gathering dust and put it on. Boy! Well that started it for me and I've not looked back since. I now live in Peckham, South London where I work behind a local bar and play the other side of it too, often (and happily) through the night.

I started recording when I started writing as this was the best way, I felt, to keep a record of the music. Upon joining SC I've arranged most of my recordings into 6 albums and an EP. The first 3 albums, from the early days, I call Bootlegs (the last of these being Testerest, The Best of The Rest). These 3 albums really illustrate my learning process. Imitations - you can hear me trying to sound like Dylan I'm sure on a couple of tracks. And there are also the first songs I wrote there - love songs of course! The last 3 albums I've compiled under the sub-title Sketch Songs as they're all just sketches. But, ranging from 2008 - 2011 they represent the more recent work from me. The last, The Dental Demos EP is just the result of a recording oppotunity I had earlier this year. Foolishly I just recorded the songs off the top of my head and none of the new songs I'd been writing at the time. So I've saved these up and now have loads of material for my next album. I really want to put everything into this one. I have a couple of collaborations lined up, duets and such, as well as other experimentation's but I really want to do it right - and that means preparation! So I'm not rushing anything but hope to have things ready to go into the studio in a month or so - about the time my music video will be released!

Well, anyway, I'm rambling - sorry!
