SevenDoors is a new producer from the UK. When we heard his first demo tracks we directly signed them. VOID has been working in our sets like magic. FORGET YOU is an updated rework of VI by MUSUMECI (with friendly permission from the artist) which has become a secret weapon for Solomun. Both tracks were world premiered by Pete Tong at BBC Radio 1. With an upcoming record on Diynamic, a remix for Pete Tongs label FFRR and plenty of stuff in the pipeline you will surely hear much more from SevenDoors in the future.

Italian melody makers Modular Project reveal their debut EP, a nature-dubbed and organic five track effort merging tech house and electronica.

The endeavor kicks off with the nostalgy laden yet upbeat “Leaf”, whose steady bassline gives leeway to a dreamy developing, synth lined harmony. Aptly entitled “Into The Woods”, the second track goes into deep territory via distorted synths, a wave-reminiscent element that remains its central focus til the very last sequence. The woodlandish journey fully unfolds at the third track, a contrastingly darker cut, filled with modular piano bits completed by arpeggiated synths. The title track gets a dubby makeover from Permanent Vacation’s Benjamin Fröhlich who plays upon the nostalgic synth line, turning it into a peak time drama by adding squirmish crowd vocals. Konvex and The Shadow take on a less dramatic, but equally serious approach, stripping off some synths but adding oscillating bleeps and lower pitched drums for extra gravitas.

This year’s version of Steyoyoke’s ‘Couple Affair’ features four tracks created by a combination of two of five label members: Soul Button, Nick Devon, Dahu, Animal Picnic, and Ran Salman. This memorable vinyl only EP brings the family together by showcasing the strength and harmony created by the pioneers of ethereal techno. 

Soul Button and Nick Devon join forces to create ‘Modus’, a heavenly techno imprint of a never-ending climax. Gentle yet hypnotic, the melodic nature of the synths carries a playful air, complimented by a powerful kick that embodies the mood of the entire release. Strong and dreamy, ‘Modus’ is the ideal way to begin this ‘Couple Affair’.

Nick Devon teams up with Dahu this time, giving birth to ‘Kaleidoscope’, a track with a wilder rugged feel. Truly a reflection of raw feelings, confident, unpredictable, and energetic, Nick Devon and Dahu have brought their most powerful elements to the table with this one, with shadowy basslines and heart-hitting percussions. 

Animal Picnic and Ran Salman take the twisted, dark path down to their ‘Mind Maze’ with a tragically beautiful melody that invites you into its mysterious basslines and addictive synths. ‘Mind Maze’ is an appropriate title for this masterpiece, and it is certain that you may find yourself lost in the sounds and on a true trip.

The final contribution made by Soul Button and Animal Picnic, ‘Icosian’, is filled with perks that pamper the ears. The last track on this vinyl-only release sets out to break the hearts of people around the globe as they experience the emotive nature of this timeless gem. The contrast of the lows and highs have become perfectly intertwined, manipulated in subtle ways that display the art of complexity and simplicity simultaneously.

Up next is the London-based DJ & producer Third Son, who unleashes a conceptually focused release off his new concept label - Polymath. 

His Polymath concept will ask different artists to create tracks inspired by their perception of a singular theme. The flagship release includes tracks from Einmusik, Pete Oak, and Third Son himself. All 3 tracks are malleable for the dance floor, yet dive into unknown territory. Having released on labels such as Noir Music, Stil Vor Talent, and Sincopat, his next release Genus is yet another display of both his musical and production dexterity.

People get very excited when a new Robert Babicz production lands, and when the music sounds like this, its no wonder why...

Roberts first release on his own imprint for a while packs a mighty punch and ticks all of the boxes, so lets get to the music.

'Stimulate' is a beautiful melancholic slab of musical deepness, showing Roberts emotional side, and even packs a saxophone in there, giving the track a sultry feel. Tasty!

Next up is 'Unity Of Kissing' and pulls at the heartstrings with its impassioned heartfelt depth, while remaining a dance floor moment.

'Mindset' is a hypnotic workout with its subtleties bringing its strength. An elegant breakdown follows full of warmth.

The final original track is 'Seeking For The Horizon'. Analog deepness with mysterious layers is the way forward here. Giving the package a cool musical balance and twist.

Jerome Isma-Ae & Alastor remix 'Stimulate' and take us firmly to peak time melodic mayhem, as this punchy number works its magic!

And rounding off this fine release, another remix of 'Stimulate', this time Tvardovsky & Alex Kaspersky take us deep and deadly, with hypnotic overtones and cool growls, while cascading melodics integrate superbly.

The album features spectacular exclusives from Emerson, Digweed & Muir’s collaborative project, the legendary Robert Babicz, and supremely talented label regulars Guy J, Stelios Vassiloudis and BOg. But, interestingly, it’s the strength of the numerous collaborative studio partnerships that is perhaps even more revealing. There’s an incredible Latino Detroit fusion of styles from Vancouver-based Andromo, who joins forces with much respected USA scene stalwart Chris Fortier. ‘This Just Then’ marks this duo out as a future creative force to be reckoned with.
