Select Cuts 313: Fiona Kraft

This month’s Get Physical radio show features a mix from renowned German artist and DJ Tom Breu. Tom’s musical journey has seen him traversing the globe, settling in Ibiza at 19 and now calling Los Angeles home. He has been a constant presence on the global music scene playing the world’s most iconic clubs and festivals and releasing music on crucial labels. This month, he joined the Get Physical family for the latest single ‘Murungu’ alongside Peruvian-American artist Sintra. The mix for the show features this super Afro-House melodic fusion, along with a host of other recent gems from the world of Get Physical and Friends. We have tracks from Climbers, Cioz, Chelonis R. Jones and Djuma Soundsystem amongst others as Tom Breu takes us through a highly melodic and dance floor focused selection. The mix closes with a remastered Get Physical Classic as co-founders M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade work with Laurie Anderson on the excellent ‘O Superman’.

Scream under the decks and kiss the nearest DJ, a change of season is here and there’s a bite in the air (and lipstick on your teeth). No matter your longitudinal placement or latitudinal proximity, temperatures are flipping. We’ve spun around the sun, jumped on calls and bent over backwards but now is the time to stop and be still. With 3 hours & a half to play with, I collected around 300 tracks and went in. I started things with softer tunes which I don't always have the opportunity to play out as well as some of my favourite album cuts from artists such as HVOB, Trikk, Maceo Plex & Adriatique. Hitting the flow of the mix around an hour in, I dropped some classics such as Tale Of Us' remix of Cubicolor's 'Wake Me Up' and Carl Craig's 'Sandstorms' before going into more recent stuff, such as recent & upcoming tracks from When We Dip XYZ artists, tunes from my own trio Dilate, which I form with Kridelka & Cian Moynagh, and other music which I often play out. A few classics to end things in good measures and here we go!
