After a long time of DJing and partying together, London based producers PJU and Earl Grey raided their collection of floppy discs full of edgy samples and put them into a dance project.

With a shared mutual passion for all things early Chicago house and JACK, they draw inspiration from the early days, when house music was raw and edgy, and bring that vibe into the present. A handful of fun packed studio sessions messing around with a Roland drum machine & a SH 101 bass box resulted in 'Call Me Up', a monster house club track with a clear mission to make you J-A-C-K !

PJU is the project of Punks Jump Up with former releases on Kitsune. Earl Grey is the solo project of Danny Ashenden, who is otherwise known as one half of The C90s or one half of Say Yes to Another Excess (with Daniel Avery).

Back from a whirlwind tour this summer that included Glastonbury, Melt & Wilderness festivals plus a much-lauded residency at Heart in Ibiza, performing Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons’ eccentric and immersive debut album for the first time, the band unveil their third single, ‘We Will Return’.

Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world and was joined at the production controls by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence). Taking inspiration from Lazarus's Lazpod series, Get Lost events and Day Zero festival in Mexico, the resulting album, ‘Message From the Other Side’ is a rich and ambitious project featuring musicians from LA, Egypt, Pakistan, Mozambique and Mexico’s Yucatan Symphony Orchestra.

One of the UK’s finest electronic songwriters and vocalists, Ali Love rose to fame providing vocals for The Chemical Brothers hit, "Do It Again", for their 2007 album ‘We Are the Night’. Appearing since on Columbia Records, Back Yard Recordings and co-penning the Justice single ‘Civilization’, used in the biggest Adidas commercial to date, Ali is now part of two of the biggest current dance acts; Infinity Ink and Hot Natured, the latter playing Coachella this year and scoring a place in the UK top 40 Charts.

Marco Resmann returns to Watergate after a productive stint at the Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town with two stellar cuts featuring local heroes Deep Aztec and Black Soda. Tack on a remix from the one and only Oliver Huntemann and another revision from Resmann himself and you have the Babylon Side EP. 

Teaming up to kick things off, Resmann, Black Soda and Deep Aztec embrace the cultural sounds of Africa's organic percussion and vocal prowess to create a tour de force tune perfectly balance between flashing club lights and vast open skies. Following suit, Abadala sees Marco again with Deep Aztec for a lush ride into deep emotional spaces by applying mesmerizing syncopated rhythms and spellbinding vocals ideal for deeper or more sentimental dance floor moments. 

Up next is Techno legend Oliver Huntemann who, playing after Resmann earlier this year at the 15 years of Watergate event at Warung Beach Club in Brazil enjoyed his set and the two hit it off, so logically he was asked to lend his trademark sound for a revision of Babylon Side and he twists the original into a heavy Techno belter complete with sinister sonics and fever inducing sirens. Wrapping things up is Marco Resmann himself with his own take on Babylon Sides and delivers a wild and twisted version of gargantuan low end and psychedelic shimmers of the original vocal resulting in a killer tune with a ton of attitude.

Abadala Feat. Deep Aztec

An artist with a fabled reputation, Canadian based, Tone Depth, has been an iconic figure in the dance music industry for almost two decades. Joining forces with fellow Montreal resident, Proton Music is delighted to welcome Tone Depth and Simply City to the label with their sparkling "Glass Elevator".

At the forefront of his country's dance movement and beyond with a debut on Paul Oakenfold's "Another World" compilation at the millennium, Tone Depth hit a rich vein of form in the subsequent years with tracks such as the iconic "Rumble Fish" for John Digweed's Bedrock and an appearance on Global Underground's "Nubreed 8", compiled and mixed by Sultan, with "Moments". Releases on Renaissance, Perfecto and Audio Therapy followed as did the formation of his own Bad Pony imprint, before a "spiritual epiphany" occurred in 2015 and a subsequent career "reboot". Thus, Tone Depth reconfigured an approach to his craft with a desire to pursue a more organic methodology to his music using live instrumentation with "more air and ambience". Thus, the August 2016, "Domino Effect" EP for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, illustrated this new-found approach to cross-genre appeal, as did a pair of original releases for Bad Pony and a high-profile remix with Jerome Isma-Ae for the latter's Jee Productions, quickly going on to be licensed to Markus Schulz's Coldharbour in May 2017.

Similarly, renowned Chilean raised and now Montreal based artist, Cesar Romero, has cast a spell over the underground scene with his Simply City moniker. A famed producer in his home country and crowned Chile's best DJ at the turn of the millennium, multiple residencies across North and South America have seen a hard-earned reputation blossom behind the decks. Subsequent performances alongside Markus Schulz, Danny Tenaglia and Hernan Cattaneo at festivals including Mysteryland, Creamfields and WMC, have further enhanced a golden reputation. Translating this cachet into the production arena, an impressive 2011 debut for Bad Pony, was quickly followed by the "Breaking" EP in conjunction with Dave Angel for the Nick Warren led, Hope Recordings.

Joining forces for the "Skydivers" EP with The Easton Ellises, Tone Depth and Simply City have already made their joint mark on Cattaneo's Sudbeat imprint, as they now collaborate once more on "Glass Elevator" for Proton. The title track is thus a pulsating bass-driven gem that drives relentlessly forward via deep, resonant kick, hi-hat urgency and clave warmth. Evolving elegantly, a chorus of textured pads sit alongside a delicate string-laden motif that provides the perfect counterweight to the intricate rhythmic groove. Building to a stunning denouement, the blend of intelligent instrumentation and beats-driven prowess, is a joy to behold.

Partner track, "Polaris", continues the heavy rhythmic foundations of its predecessor, as an off-beat hi-hat pattern keeps techno credentials to the fore. A wave of filtered melodies soon hone off the aural horizon as a haunting freeform lead line creates a strong juxtaposition to the hard-edged rhythmic shell. A retro-style stab nestles perfectly in the space provided for it, rising and falling in a stripped back breakdown before hitting its stride in the third movement.

A pair of new tracks find Tone Depth and Simply City find them master of all they survey from the dizzying heights of their "Glass Elevator".
