Taking the release-portfolio into account, Rampa built over the last years on Keinemusik, him adding a new EP to the labels catalogue is worth every credit of trust. And this very “Trust” EP is living up to that not only by its name. It certainly offers value for money, considering KM-releases have mostly been two-trackers. There are four cuts on this one, each one following a different approach, making it also a hella versatile record.

It opens with the titeltrack, the floor-mantra within this bunch. A ruminant groove, backed by lifting and dropping notes, launching a catchy synth-figure and adding up synth-layers until all tension drops into a break that’s as curative as a talk therapy. A track that, out of unshakable serenity, unleashes an irresistible energy.

The following “Entropie” comes closest to what could be considered a Rampa classic. Percussive loops that are scooped up with even more banging and clanking – check. Lurking synthbass in the back – check. Vocalsamples with tribal descent – double check. Generally, you’ll find a whole lot of folklore in this rhythm rich affair, that continuously is jazzing up to highest ecstasy levels.

The flipside opens with “Defiled”, led by a prominent synthline, that’s going through various filter highs and lows and gets bludgeoned by some vigorously swung claps. Raw, naked floor material lacking any flourish, that seems to even fire up a jackhammer during the break.

“Headsup” is concluding this set. Triggering the smell of watered sidewalks, lit-up only by flickering neon light, immersed in the depths of delay, this latenight-story finds some redemption and warmth within the glow of its soulful vocal samples.

Jonas Rathsman announces his latest offering with cutting-edge innovators Crosstown Rebels. ‘Complex’ featuring Josef Salvat is released on 10th June 2016.

This is a tech-blues odyssey, an introverts primal scream, where complex emotions and urges are vented and perfectly complemented by Rathsman’s explorations into the dark corners of electronic music. Enjoy the journey. With the release only in the hands of a select few tastemaker DJs, ‘Complex’ has been making waves at the recent Miami Winter Music Conference, “receiving hands in the air welcomes and even a sit down ovation” according to label boss Damian Lazarus. ‘Complex’ is set to be the first underground anthem of 2016. 

The release comes with two carefully chosen remixes. First up is Swiss techno stalwart Deetron, who steers the song into percussive acid oblivion while Serge Devant offers up his deep house expertise for a dramatic and driving offbeat cut. 

With his instantly recognisable sound, Jonas has found praise the world over for his keen ear and transcendent sets, which have captivated listeners on both the international club and festival scenes.

Following his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, Rathsman continues to showcase his technical capabilities and impressive track selection with his bi-monthly mix series ‘ELEMENTS’, now on its fourth instalment.

One of our label favourites MOHN (NL) is finally back on WEITER. His first single on WEITER named “Colors” became one of last year’s festival anthems, featured in different aftermovies, played by heavyweights like Karotte, Eelke Kleijn, and even Fedde Le Grand got his hands on this melodic techno pounder.

Back with his Disclosure EP, MOHN (NL) delivers his first three tracker on WEITER, just in time for the summer season. Disclosure, the EP’s title track, is the perfect follow up for Colors. The typical signature MOHN (NL) bassline, sharp and edgy synths, and driven energy, make the track into another peaktime bomb.

The second track, No Saints, MOHN (NL) proves that his production skills reach further than pounding melodic techno tunes. No Saints is a very moody, sensitive, sunrise/sundown festival track, filled with emotion. A hypnotizing lead guides you through the track, supported by a melody which sounds like an undefined vocal from outer space.

As a bonus track, MOHN made a very steady remix from Olivier Weiter’s previous release, Tukdam. 4 to the floor, deep, full of grooves – a subtle stripped-down version of the original.

Der Song selbst handelt von Menschen, die als Parasiten dargestellt werden, und fragt, was bleibt, wenn die Menschen die Natur weiterhin ausbeuten. Dem Original-Mix haben sich der Hamburger Produzent @oliverschories und das Berliner Gespann Penwood angenommen. Schories hat das Original in ein episch wirkendes Konstrukt gezwängt und die Nummer sehr düster erscheinen lassen. Ein Remix, der wie geschaffen ist für den Club. (...)

Fideles and Kellerkind cross paths into a split EP consisting of six original tracks showcasing their individual yet complemental production styles.

Haptic’s murmuring vocals are at the center of Vitamins, a playful exploration of fluid atmospherics. A clanging bassline provides the backdrop for whirlwinding synths, as the vocals build up an enveloping, dance-inducing tension. Wave Echoes kicks in lively from the get go: a relentless, steady percussion tied into a wandering baseline are the constant mainstays. The melody slowly develops as a fuzzy wandering pad adds another dimension, equally spacious as it is heavy.

Carving light with synth sweeps and spacious reverb, Illumino takes shape as a deep tech introspection. Accented with whirring bits and maintaining an elated undertone, it effectively embodies the ever-ascending, never-releasing groove that’s perfect for peak time hours.

Kellerkind steps up to the plate with Subzero, a slice of cavernous dub tech. Breathy vocals and sparse ethereal elements set a dreamy mood. Underlined by smooth piano chords, the vocal develops into a full fledged hymn that is both emotive and mesmerising. For his second take, the Swiss producer embarks on a techno tinged journey. Opting for distorted synths and a stomping bassline, he aptly crafts a near dungeon-like atmosphere only sweetened by a lush female vocal. Teaming up with Sven, they offer up Shakti Pan, a meeting point between tribal infused percussion and deep-set riffs. Hollowed out drums and bells chimes touch on chorus vocals and manage to create a highly immersive experience, rounding off the release on an uplifting note.

Fellow Swiss national and underground up & comer Night Talk deliver s titillating 3 track EP ‘Hypnotized’ to Definition:Music.

First he sets the mood with the title track (feat. SUMA), a wonderfully tense atmosphere is contrasted with the smooth, lush vocals of SUMA to great effect – creating an intriguing dynamic balance between the two. Next, LOR steps in to deliver his version; a deeper and heavier blend with a dash of techno, house and electronica, leaving his fingerprint behind.

The final track, another original, takes the darkest path. Arps, rhythmic synth and lovely vocal pads create an ethereal experience and a safe bet for a hungry floor.

Coming together out of their own individual musical worlds, Rodriguez Jr. and Liset Alea met 15 years ago creating music for Laurent Garnier’s legendary imprint, F Communications. Since then, each have gone on to have blinding careers of their own, developing individual personas and sounds, becoming leaders in their fields.

A stunning partner, singer-songwriter, Liset Alea has been releasing albums since her teens. Perfectly poised for stardom since, her solo career saw her co-founding drum and bass, trip-hop band, Etro Anime in New York; co-writing and providing vocals on all songs. From here the only way was up for Alea, leaving the band to pursue her own truly solo ventures, her debut LP, No Sleep, released on EMI, was popular across multiple European territories. As an already well-seasoned artist, she later fronted the French new-wave group, Nouvelle Vague for seven years, touring the world, providing exciting and enchanting performances. With such a notable career to date that spans numerous musical styles from Drum and Bass to Downtempo New Wave, it is clear to see how Alea and Rodriguez Jr. are so perfectly matched.  
 
Known to many, as one of the best live electronic music acts the industry has to offer, Rodriguez Jr. is a multi-faceted musician as opposed to a DJ or producer. Well respected for his unique brand of melodic techno, Jr. takes his influences from genre’s far and wide feeding into his eclecticism. From classical artists such as Stockhausen to electronic groups such as Kraftwerk and LFO, his performances offer a new take on how electronic music can function in a club environment. Upon signing with Mobilee Records, Rodriguez has remained one of the imprints most treasured artists, proving time after time that live electronic music and performance, is as spell binding as any digitized track or record being spun. 

No strangers to collaboration, Jr. and Alea recently worked together on Rodriguez’s album ‘Baobab’; it was here that their creative flame was ignited. Inspired by one another’s musical tastes, the synergy between these two talents was clear from the start, making the prospect of future work together a certainty. Now picking back up on unfinished business, Jr. and Alea announce their new project RJLA, kicking things off with summer track ‘Radio’, releasing on Rodriguez’s native home, Mobilee Records.

Drawing on previous collaborations together, new and original single ‘Radio’ is a reflection of both artists musical appetites. Alongside ‘Radio’ Jr. and Alea include ‘Radian’, initially released by Rodriguez on his ‘Baobab’ album, Alea and him re-recorded the track during their cliff-top live performance for Cercle; Alea’s vocals elevating Rodriguez’s highly complex and technical melodies to new places. An extremely exciting and interesting project for Mobilee, the partnership between Rodriguez Jr. and Liset Alea presents electronic music for ears on and off the dancefloor.

Their debut “Dogs” took the Beatport Deep House Charts by storm. With their second EP “Jack” the Vienna-based duo HVOB fuel the anticipation for their forthcoming debut album.

In 2012, a young duo from Vienna proved to be one of the great success stories of Europe’s electronic music landscape: HVOB (short for “Her Voice over Boys”) only uploaded initial snippets on Soundcloud last April, reached number 4 in the Beatport Deep House Charts with their debut EP “Dogs”, number 10 in the Top Live Acts of the Year and number 11 in the Best Singles of 2012 in DE:BUG’s readers' poll, while performing live at festivals such as Germany’s Melt!. Moreover, the year was concluded by a particular honour: the leading Lebanese-French fashion designer Elie Saab chose HVOB’s sound for his new collection video.

With their inaugural release, Anna Müller (composition, production, vocals) and Paul Wallner (composition and final production) managed to create an entirely new and unique world of sound: HVOB represent intelligent and sophisticated electronic music that is equally emotive and melodic.

2013 kicks off with the release of HVOB’s second EP: “Jack” will be available on vinyl and Beatport on February 22. Here, the duo presents two new original tracks in the form of “Jack” and “Moon”, while one will also find two prominent remixes of “Jack”. The Berliner DJs Niconé & Sascha Braemer weave the original’s driving beats and Anna Müller’s hypnotic voice into their own sound aesthetic, and Valencia’s Edu Imbernon transforms “Jack” into a dark and forceful deep house track.

Especially Edu Imbernon’s contribution highlights HVOB’s current standing within Europe’s scene: the Spaniard, who recently remixed “The Reunion” by The XX among others, was so impressed by HVOB’s sound that it led him to approach the young Viennese pair and offer a collaboration.

“Jack” is the precursor to HVOB’s debut LP, set to be released March 8. After the album release, HVOB, who on stage perform live and with a drummer, are going to embark on a European tour. Some stops include: Paris (as part of Paris Fashion Week), Berlin, Zurich – more infos: www.hvob-music.com.
