Taking inspiration from his surroundings deep in the Tulum jungle, medicine man LUM takes us on an otherworldly trip, delivering a truly stunning EP for Crosstown sub-label Rebellion, featuring a remix from American duo Bedouin.
 
“The ceremony starts in the jungle,’ explains LUM of the EP’s journey, ‘‘Urpillay’ calls the spirits and asks permission for the celebration. It’s warm, deep strings and pianos lead us to connect with the inner self and mother earth. Bedouin brings the jungle to the dance floor with a powerful remix’. LUM goes on to say, ‘the trumpets, percussion and the angelic voice in ‘Plegaria’ are to say thanks. ’Baaxal’ is a reinterpretation of Mayan music, the spirit of the jungle present. 90 bpm, hypnotic, and 741 hz to awaken intuition. The deep voices of the tribe in ’Canto de la Tierra’ reminds us to live in harmony with the earth. The flutes are the sound of the earth, wind & bamboo.”

The 55-minute film will be projected 360 degrees on massive floor to ceiling screens that surround the audience, as The Acid performs a live score in the center of the space.

the bomb exists at the intersection of art, politics, and technology.

A perfect mirror showing you emotions and cold pictures, new facets and something about your past. A “Perfect Mirror“ is a great option to discover yourself and Roderic is bringing the perfect sound for that. With our second longplayer on Katermukke we’re introducing the Mexico based act, who is playing piano keys since his childhood. African hand drums and other instruments -Roderic is making clear, that electronic music can be based on every sound, organic or synthetic ones. The vocals are fresh and without any pressure - just catchy and natural. And so “Perfect Mirror“ is taking us on a trip from the atmospheric and introspective to the driving and relentless world of a young and talented producer. When asked by my good friends at Iboga if i wanted to make a compilation aiming at the slower, more downbeat side of the music spectrum, of course I immediately said yes.
So much great downbeat music has emerged over the past 2-3 years, and the scene has been growing rapidly, with many sub-genres seeing the light of day.
My thoughts about the selection of tracks was that they should be deep, moody, trippy, well produced ,and layered with tribalistic rhythm patterns. And a sexy bassline wouldn't hurt either!
So I started to get in contact with friends and some of my favourite producers in the genre, and slowly but surely, a story was starting to unfold...a sonic horizon, filled with music dear to my heart. Enjoy!
