Bondage Music label-founders Pornbugs return to the imprint this September with their ‘Pacho’ EP, backed with remixes from Pablo Bolivar and Philipp Gonzales.
Leipzig/Berlin based duo Pornbugs make a welcome return to their own label here with two new original cuts, ‘Pacho’ opens the package with stripped-back drums, a bulbous bass line and choppy piano chords running alongside a bubbling arpeggio lead and tension building stab sequences. Pablo Bolivar’s 'Rawmake' of 'Pacho' follows, edging things into deeper territory with dropped tempo dusty drums, airy pads and an amalgamation of wandering, resonant synth lines.
The second half of the release, pencilled for release as vinyl only features another original from Pornbugs, entitled ’Larica’ and featuring a similar aesthetic to the lead with fluttering dubby chords, a refined drum groove and unfolding atmospherics carrying the groove before label regular Phillipp Gonzales turns in his remix to complete the package, taking things in a more raw direction with heavily swung crunchy drums, pulsating filtered stabs and billowing vocal murmurs.

One half of esteemed house duo Waifs and Strays, Amos, launches his new alias: Part Time Lover. Debuting on Crosstown Rebels with Don’t Hesitate, the EP is a stunning six track release that features vocals from Danielle Moore and Oli Gosh, as well as remixes from PBR Streetgang

The EP opens with Don’t Hesitate. A pure house groover, Oli Gosh’s vocals provide the track with a seductive flare, whilst the swinging bassline rolls alongside dynamic pulsing keys. Second up is the dub version of Don’t Hesitate. Stripped back yet still wholesome, the mix features whirring pads. Tied comes next, as Danielle Moore’s incredible soulful vocals coat the record with a dance-ready warmth. PBR Streetgang are first up on remix duties, providing an acid-flecked reinterpretation of Tied that harks back to the 80s with electro-like synths and distorted kicks, before their dub mix continues in a similarly driving vein.

English vocalist Oli Gosh has featured on Dutch house music label Armada Deep. Danielle Moore has been the lead singer of Crazy P since 2002, releasing on the likes of Wolf Music Recordings and Smoke ‘N’ Mirrors. PBR Streetgang released their standout album Late Night Party Line last year on the esteemed Skint label.

Returning to Steve Bug’s Sublease label, buraq drops two new heaters on the Scream & Shout release. The DJ, composer and producer from Zurich, Switzerland roars back with the follow up to I Don’t (2019) and Untold (2020) that dropped to great acclaim. 

Title track Scream & Shout is a vibey deep burner - a solid kick is teased in and out, while crisp 808 percussion brings the groove. There’s a juicy, old school Kerri Chandler vibe to the track with a mutating synth lead and vocal sample. 

Hey Hey treads a similar path - a deep and slinky groove gets under the skin and brings back the yearning for basement dancefloors - it’s two note melody is classic Chicago house and a timely reminder of better days.
