Crown Violet is the solo project of Dave Rambo.  Dave is a "cusper" caught between generations and star signs, so he's generally confused about how to live his life and writes songs about that. At thirteen, he picked up guitar to impress the older emo girl at his homeschool co-op, but ended up liking the guitar more than the girl.   Since then, like most confused people, he's moved to Los Angeles, where you might find him looking up at the hills on Hyperion.  "Crown Violet" references the purple sunsets of his small-town Texas roots...and his favorite dive bar back home.  Aimlessly driving those big-sky sunsets in his '99 Ford Explorer, with a giveaway Merge Records mixtape and "Transatlanticism" on repeat in the 6-disc CD-changer, are the memories that come rushing back with "Crown Violet."  Kick back, crack open a cold snack, and join the Hyperion Social Club.
