This month's mix is by yet another unsung legend of the San Francisco scene - Ken Vulsion aka Ken Woodard! I first met Ken in the late '90's when he was working as graphic designer for the Hardkiss Brothers' label Sunburn. Since then I've come to admire his design work as well as his incredible DJ history - whether as globetrotting DJ with appearances at Horse Meat Disco, Optimo, Cocktail D'Amore, NYC Downlow and so much more, or as co-founder of queer DJ collective Honey Soundsystem (and person responsible for its incredible design aesthetic) as well as local bear disco bash Go Bang!, not to mention his return to Acid House alongside DJ Spun as Acido Ahora. Ken is currently holding court at neighborhood haunt Underground SF, where Idle Cellars are posted up every Sunday afternoon for new Balearic venture ÜBar and regular appearances at new weekly evening party End of Day at Hawthorne in SF. We're so proud to present this wonderful mix of chilled-out classics and new jams alike, but I'll let Ken introduce the mix himself: 

"KEUKA LAKE (1983—Present)  Thunder awakens those not already awake. The all night party goes on and on. A bottle of Bully Hill Goat White tied to an inner tube, you are floating away."

Crown Ruler Mix # 5 – Üllar Siir

The latest contribution to the CR mix series comes all the way from our Estonian friend, Üllar Siir.

Not only does he have a black belt in sweet music but also carries a A++++ rating on the disco sales/wants/trades page (rare).

Üllar has certainly put many, many, amazing soulful obscurities on our radar, kindly shipped them to our door and on top of all that, has managed to press record for us and deliver a beautiful mix for our autumn ears.

Andres Astorga, aka ”Trujillo", aka "the Venezuelan don", feels most at home in the cosmic Caribe. The monthly mixes he put out from 2009 - 2016 are legendary and he has a real good feeling for finding that special record everyone will be after. (See Johnny Lamas if you need convincing). 

For "5918mins.", the don is dimming the light a little bit, slicking back his hair and showing us his sensual side. Hope you enjoy the ride.

This third instalment comes from Barney Graman aka Bongo Barns. 

We can’t get enough of Barney’s sound. Rocking it on the Amsterdam circuit, his choice selections range from super dub cuts, to jacking kwaito, hip house, refreshing boogie and so much more.  But above all he keeps one thing consistent - quality. 

A hot mix to match that Dutch heatwave.

Happy Birthday Dieter! 

DieterMitPlatten is probably one of the most eager people on the internet when it comes to rare (and not so rare) Boogie, Disco and Funk & Soul - with over 38.000 releases rated on Discogs. 

For this evening, the guy from Vienna with a 9 - 5 IT job, who spends every available penny on buying new records, invites you do sit down at the table for his birthday meal and let him carry you through different flavors - such as Modern Soul, Gospel, UK Street Soul, New Jack, Jazzfunk and of course the necessary wee bit of Boogie. 

Before pressing play, we should warn you that this mix is to be consumed with caution, as those taste-buds might easily explode.

We finish off 2020 with a fine mix by NYC's very own DJ Lloyd. And it was worth the wait. He always digs deep and keeps it fresh as he tears his way through a bunch of 80s Disco covers like only he can.  

Lloyd has been involved in most things in NYC of any note as a DJ, record collector, party promoter, radio host and purveyor of fine chat. You can catch him regularly on The Lot Radio. Thanks to our man for finishing this crappy year off in style. See you on the other side people!
