Fresh Air with Terry Gross, the Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine of contemporary arts and issues, is one of public radio's most popular programs. Each week, nearly 4.5 million people listen to the show's intimate conversations broadcast on more than 500 National Public Radio (NPR) stations across the country, as well as in Europe on the World Radio Network.

Though Fresh Air has been categorized as a "talk show," it hardly fits the mold. Its 1994 Peabody Award citation credits Fresh Air with "probing questions, revelatory interviews and unusual insights." And a variety of top publications count Gross among the country's leading interviewers. The show gives interviews as much time as needed, and complements them with comments from well-known critics and commentators.

Fresh Air is produced at WHYY-FM in Philadelphia and broadcast nationally by NPR.

Crows & Jays is an Indie Folk/Rock quartet. Classic Americana merges with Indie-Rock alongside Blues and Jazz undertones. Three-part harmonies throughout emphasize this lyrically driven, storyteller style of folk/rock.

Crows and Jays influences stem from The Band, John Prine, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Jeff Tweedy, Conor Oberst, Jack White, The Animals, Elvis Costello to The Grateful Dead, Phish, and Pat Metheny. All their work is original, written by lead vocalist and pianist Justin Bachulak who was trained classically but says he uses his ear to play. 

"Writing songs is different for everyone. For me I find myself writing the lyrics and music together not one after the other. I find it brings a balance to the songs that suits me. It brings peace to my life, to write and share music." 

Accompanied by the gifted multi-instrumentalist, lead guitarist in Crows and Jays, and sound engineer - Anthony DelPlato who has mixed and mastered both the 'Play for the Trees' EP and the upcoming 'Indian Falls' LP. 

Bradley Kujawski plays bass and like Anthony complete the three-part harmonies that are a staple in Crows and Jays.

"He's our glue. Brad's the one who makes us a band." 

While drummer Peter Metzler brings national act talent from his days with punk/pop band 'Down to Earth Approach', he also helped form 'Crows and Jays'.

Justin: "When I sent the music to Pete I had been writing and recording, around the time my son Declan was born, he loved it and brought Tony and Brad on board." 

Crows and Jays formed in fall of 2012 and have already made headway in the music scene, opening for national touring act: The Whigs just three months after forming. They have worked with After Dark Productions and have headlined major Buffalo venues including Waiting Room and 9th Ward as well as many other locals venues throughout Western New York. Their debut EP 'Play for the Trees' was released in February 2013 - an EP focused on conservation and traditions. While their full-length album 'Indian Falls' is harmony-driven in both verse and chorus, it focuses on more personal experiences of the band.  -Lucas Warren
