February's episode of The Slug Farm. This month I was very gassed to have a killer guest mix from @bladeblanc (out of Bergamo, Italy) take over the full hour of the show. Expect an hour long trip cycling through mutant bass, experimental club, drum n bass & more. 

Bladeblanc is fresh off the back of a wicked EP released on ESKA titled 'Unstable Terrain'. If you haven't already, run that up cos it's dope as hell.

Working with friends has an especially rewarding quality which is why we’re particularly happy for Hett to join the AWK label family. Having known about his excellent production skills for a while, we were quite eager to unearth this hidden gem. It took a moment to put together but everyone’s patience paid off and we can proudly present you this beautiful 5 track record.

The Wearside raised and Berlin based artist provides the perfect formula for a club ready yet emotively aware package, making it hard to believe that this is only his debut EP. A work of music that embodies the refreshing candor of a forward thinking attitude whilst also giving a respectful nod to the past.

Started in 2020, the Mentoring Program run by label owner Martyn has become a worldwide online and IRL community of artists sharing resources, ideas and inspiration. This compilation showcases the wide range of fresh and amazing music that is continuously surfacing from the program, unbound by strict genre definitions.

Besides a collection of new music, Undercurrents is also a consideration of what a record label can be in 2024. Whether it’s a platform for repurposing old material, providing daylight for new sounds, artists or even entire communities, or injecting new ideas about authenticity and sustainability into the current of the underground, rather than partaking in the unwinnable race over algorithm dominance. An understated approach for maximum impact.

"The Cure" was written by Dorothy K Haynes in 1969. She was an accomplished, Scottish writer of horror stories, often included in compendiums. I read this recently in a collection re-printed by the British Library. Yes, it's another dark offering. The story is tragic, horrifying but, ultimately, hopeful; well worth a read. 

I used a Fender Jazz Bass, through a modern amp, to join the lead synth.

CRTTR is a creature of many faces: superstar, trickster and failed poet. It slips through the cracks, its cells dividing, mutating, and reassembling in an endless cycle. Every now and then shedding its skin as it seeks new spaces to grow.

And just when you think you’ve figured it out, it changes again. CRTTR is an artist collective based in Bern that hijacks radio waves, transforms cultural spaces, and works with sound and images. We curate exhibitions, organize concerts, host radio shows, and publish selected experimental sound and printed works. CRTTR thrives on collaboration, moving playfully through different genres. It’s a space where artists, musicians, storytellers, designers, and curators meet and experiment together.
