There is no one way in or out of this. I’ve been thinking about the idea of coming of age, but as a sphere, and of the possibility of sight through movement with and beyond the body. Where does one perceive with when the senses become braided, when there is something way more poly at the wheel of revelation than our routine analysis? Paul Reality reached out his hand, and you laughed in disbelief, but you grabbed it anyway. His hand was shaped in a hidden mudra and you know what happens at the point of connection with those... Journeys Out Of Body. This time he took you through the Saturnial Hologram. An infinite lenticular of Acid, Techno, Synth, deja vu, the club of the future, ancient metabolisms, dialing in and out of the materiality of frequency and radio wave. Hi Tech Recall. The Cybernetic Incantation begins with a siren, starts to eaves-drop, releases you into straight jacking until the voice returns and you remember you’re human and you’ve just been not one for the last five minutes. Paul is making cinema from multiple planes and live-streaming the juice into your listening-vision, via some junction where eternal things intuitively know the boundaries are porous and excited. The result is a feeling of depth and tension, it’s both fluffy and angular, it’s seductive and withholding, and its timing is well-versed and nearly tactile. Paul Reality reached out his hand, and you laughed in disbelief, but you grabbed it anyway.

Super happy to be back with mix 035 courtesy of Wibke Tiarks.  Tiarks is a musician, composer, sound designer, and artist based in Germany.  With this mix, she deftly weaves through many different styles ranging from super lofi loopy and hissy productions to massive and satisfying sing a longs.  From selection to selection, Wibke very softly but assuredly guides you through a muted story full of different light sources, sensations and expansive sonic treats.  headphone delight.  walking music.  park bench.  lobby waiting room.  on a bus, with a 1000 yard stare.  but awareness music.

Beyond humbled to return to the series with Hudson (by way of Portland) legend Swim Ice.  Bespoke house builder, enlightened hand poker, and in the mix regular, Swim Ice has been an essential part of the Hudson Valley dance community with his parties Pest and Halogen.  In his mix for Crude, he slowly molds a very deep feeling, an awakening of sorts.  No kick drum for almost 10 minutes.  Slow hours, no need to rush.  Upstate hours.  The mix continues to take its time, slowly opening other windows to different feels, tempos, colors, moods, until about 30 minutes in when, before you know it, it's really firing.  And for the rest of the back half of the mix, Mr Ice swings back and forth in the most pleasurable way between hard and light.  Air and dirt.  Sun and moon.  Tingling and tantalizing blend to blend.

New mix courtesy of Metropol who sent in a 100% production mix recorded live last month.  Tough and groovy house for the depths of the night.  Warm synthesized chords to soothe.  Pacey and big bass lines, buzzy sound design, and hummable melody lines. This short and sweet set is probably best enjoyed with headphones after midngiht.  BUT it could be the sonic hit to kick off your or to just klang to during lunch.  Essential sounds, lock in.

Crude Mix 042 - Metropol

Bodymind stereo surrounded in the water of the air, water of the wind, water of the grasses blowing together, a silken synthesis of breathing waves. Green water runs, escaping with inherent flow to sunlight. Light filtering between the trees, slipping through veins, canals, across the surfaces of its thoughts, coming round with rubbings of the pulled rotation, a sonic komorebi of spirits. 

In the atmosphere between lullaby and fairytale, tone shifts the wager of possession. Humming in the millions and breathing with our ears. Eyes closed, mouthing birdsong to recall on the high hill, we follow the continued sweetening of the bounce. Serial ancients deflected into present time, matching happy and emptying out of the board. On the high hill, in the warm wind, rushing voluminous and clear.

Pamela_ and her sons - A2 swimming ft infinitybc

Jazz up your crates with four highly functional DJ tools from Rose Club, a rotating collective of East Coast producers and DJs. The group uses a minimal touch on their first demo, stripping the production setup back to a drum machine, sampler and distortion pedal. The project's roots in New Jersey are evidenced by their beats—dense polyrhythms constructed from club breaks, 909 toms and crisp, overdriven hi hats. Tracks begin and end with beats, noise elements slowly oozing out of the unrelenting grooves along the way. Droning, lysergic sounds build waves of contrapuntal tension over long stretches of time until finally congealing above slamming rhythms. Peaking at an almost uncomfortable density, the tracks then break down into hyper minimal DJ tools, reinforcing the primacy of the club patterns by which they are anchored. Deceptively straightforward, Rose Club’s tracks employ an economy of space and nuanced attention to sonics which make them unique among many club producers out now.

Back with mix series edition #043 courtesy of LA based artist & DJ, Christopher Baliwas.  This mix, entitled "STAY CRUMMY", was made through repeated tape transfers from various audio sources, and then eventually digitally captured.  This process results in a connective tissue across the entirety of the mix despite genre shifts, mood changes, and sometimes quick tempo jumps.  The lo-fi aesthetic doesn't overtake the deliberately and carefully selected songs that lend an embodied, human, spectrum of emotion and feeling from melancholy to hope.  Major big ups to Chris for the time and energy spent on this special mix!  <3

Beyond thrilled to share the newest CRUDE mix made by the Brooklyn vis-á-vis France cellist, composer, and experimentalist Leila Bordreuil.  With razor focus, Bordrueil assembled a collection of tunes full of analog synths, drum machines, and dark arpeggios largely accompanied by effected [affected?] vocals for some fierce stomping around in the dark winter ahead of us.  Mainly culled from obscure 1980s Europe, these sounds remain fresh and relevant as we enter a new-but-not-new neo liberal era.  Major respect across the office for this one.
