Till the End is created from karaoke stems of nine Britney Spears tracks spanning from 1999 to 2016. Till the End sounds dark and minimal, transforming highly produced pop hits into experimental electronica. Beyond humbled to return to the series with Hudson (by way of Portland) legend Swim Ice.  Bespoke house builder, enlightened hand poker, and in the mix regular, Swim Ice has been an essential part of the Hudson Valley dance community with his parties Pest and Halogen.  In his mix for Crude, he slowly molds a very deep feeling, an awakening of sorts.  No kick drum for almost 10 minutes.  Slow hours, no need to rush.  Upstate hours.  The mix continues to take its time, slowly opening other windows to different feels, tempos, colors, moods, until about 30 minutes in when, before you know it, it's really firing.  And for the rest of the back half of the mix, Mr Ice swings back and forth in the most pleasurable way between hard and light.  Air and dirt.  Sun and moon.  Tingling and tantalizing blend to blend.

Bodymind stereo surrounded in the water of the air, water of the wind, water of the grasses blowing together, a silken synthesis of breathing waves. Green water runs, escaping with inherent flow to sunlight. Light filtering between the trees, slipping through veins, canals, across the surfaces of its thoughts, coming round with rubbings of the pulled rotation, a sonic komorebi of spirits. 

In the atmosphere between lullaby and fairytale, tone shifts the wager of possession. Humming in the millions and breathing with our ears. Eyes closed, mouthing birdsong to recall on the high hill, we follow the continued sweetening of the bounce. Serial ancients deflected into present time, matching happy and emptying out of the board. On the high hill, in the warm wind, rushing voluminous and clear.

Pamela_ and her sons - A2 swimming ft infinitybc

Jazz up your crates with four highly functional DJ tools from Rose Club, a rotating collective of East Coast producers and DJs. The group uses a minimal touch on their first demo, stripping the production setup back to a drum machine, sampler and distortion pedal. The project's roots in New Jersey are evidenced by their beats—dense polyrhythms constructed from club breaks, 909 toms and crisp, overdriven hi hats. Tracks begin and end with beats, noise elements slowly oozing out of the unrelenting grooves along the way. Droning, lysergic sounds build waves of contrapuntal tension over long stretches of time until finally congealing above slamming rhythms. Peaking at an almost uncomfortable density, the tracks then break down into hyper minimal DJ tools, reinforcing the primacy of the club patterns by which they are anchored. Deceptively straightforward, Rose Club’s tracks employ an economy of space and nuanced attention to sonics which make them unique among many club producers out now.

Back with mix series edition #043 courtesy of LA based artist & DJ, Christopher Baliwas.  This mix, entitled "STAY CRUMMY", was made through repeated tape transfers from various audio sources, and then eventually digitally captured.  This process results in a connective tissue across the entirety of the mix despite genre shifts, mood changes, and sometimes quick tempo jumps.  The lo-fi aesthetic doesn't overtake the deliberately and carefully selected songs that lend an embodied, human, spectrum of emotion and feeling from melancholy to hope.  Major big ups to Chris for the time and energy spent on this special mix!  <3

Back at it again with mix 044 courtesy of Ridgewood/Glendale's finest egged!  An impactful mix brimming with different styles and genres in under 40 minutes.  One to rewind immediately upon completion to catch all the different blends and moods.  There's a particularly third-eye-open situation towards the back end blending a Beach Boys alternate take into classic LA synth punk into contemporary American jungalism.  Blissful, "easy" listening as far as I'm concerned!  Shout out Scrap Time Massive!

We are extraordinary happy to share Maximilian Schmoetzer's strange and enchanting contribution to our mix series, entitled "Supersensitively Yours."  The Berlin based visual artist Schmoetzer DJ'ed throughout his youth but had completely stopped since his 20s.  He returns to the form with this mix featuring tracks from his first external hard drive paired with new finds.  Through this combination of new and old, he creates an emotional, beautiful, and complex presentation of contemporary classical works, functional club mixing, and a left field but top shelf mashup.  And, of course, there is much more.  At the risk of sounding trite, this is a real nuanced listening experience that will surely enrich your day.  Deep gratitude for this one.
